On March 18, 2014, I brought furniture and figures to Mark Marasco at Oriental Warehouse in Boca Raton, FL. Many of the items had originally been bought by my parents from the Warehouse. After I moved to CA, I contacted Mr. Morasco---over years. He would tell me that he would check and call me back. He would tell me that he sent me a check.
He asked if I was calling because I had received his check. At one point, he told me that he had sold some of the items and would send me a check for about $200- , which, of course, I never received. I have read some other complaints against this business, and they all read just like mine. This man is a thief!!!!
Do not trust Mark with a cent unless you are walking out with your purchase. Charged me $80 to "back light" a wall hanging; the light consisted of a $2 flash light. Ordered $2770 of patio furniture only to be told the next week that it was out of stock in his warehouse but arriving by boat the next week. After 3 months the lies were almost comical; my favorite was that he couldn't talk to me because it would be rude to the customers in his store. Save your money and purchase from a reputable store!
A few years ago I bought a very nice oriental desk and chair at this place. a few months ago, I went in to buy some end tables and a matching file cabinet. I was told it takes time to make the matching file cabinet because the drawers had to be perfect, the hardware from Germany. Mark Marasco talked this stuff up and charged 538 dollars for a 2 drawer file cabinet. he said I had to pay up front because it was being made to order.
Months later, delivery is set. The tables weren't bad; I saw them in the shop. However, the filing cabinet was cringe-worthy bad. It was cheap, thin mica type board, not wood. It was the wrong color, finish- and the beautiful relief work on the desk was just cheap glued on pieces, very sparse, on the cabinet. There was no art work, no gold colored handles, just cheap silver colored knobs. Two glued on pieces actually fell off during the delivery. And, Mark made no mention at any time of a delivery charge in any of our interactions; nothing was written anywhere about a delivery charge. But an hour before delivery time he informed me that will be 45 extra dollars. I was incredulous. I never encountered such a con artist before. When I asked where was a delivery charge on my receipts he poiinted out that pre printed on the left was the subtotal, tax and delivery charge. I pointed out nothing was written there and he agreed yes, nothing is there but it's understood! Unreal.
When I saw that cabinet come into my apartment, pieces that were cheaply glued on (very few pieces in total) falling on my floor, I called him furious. He was insulting. He texted me about being on drugs, that he could recommend a church to go to for Thanksgiving- nothing was sacred with this guy. He was a total, unabashed d***.
If after reading this, you do business with this crook, shame on you. You were warned.
