Got the pop-up on the computer. Called the number and got the "you have a problem and I'll fix it, $199.00".

After the promised 15 minutes on the phone and computer (that really took 2 hours) with the guy, he said he removed a virus. He also installed firefox (which is free) and took off my stopzilla.

All seemed fine untill "live tech" ppl call me the next day and explain that the stuff they sold me would not run on my operating system and that thay will refund my money. HE had my ID number so I thought all was good.

So we link up and was explained that the only way to refund was to deposit it in my bank account. So I let him in my account.

He refunded my money. (supposedly) and showed me. BUT he made a mistake and added a zero and gave me too much money. Or so I thought..Now I am asked to go get Itune cards and tell him the numbers to get him "his" money back. This is between him and I cuz his boss will fire him.

As all this is going on, my wife gets on her computer nd into my bank acct.

What actually happened was the guy took money out of one acct and into another to make it look like he payed me too much. He had control of my screen and only showed me the part he wanted me to see.

Once I told him the wife looked up, he got mad and demanded "his" money in 15 minutes or I can kiss my money and computer goodbye.

They called the next day insisting on getting "their" money back. They stopped calling after I told them I knew what was going on.

They had my computer locked. I had to take it to be serviced. I had all their spy stuff removed that they put in.

UNTIL yesterday they called again. Another refund from the "live technition refund dept".

IMO, ONLINE RESOLVE is a front for scammers. The scammer had my ID number. Nobody is supposed to have it. I called One of their many numbers for support and they said they would look into it. Never did. Now yesterdays attempt. I call support again and they are sending me a new ID number. This has not arrived.

I had to beg them for a reciept. I had to beg them for a report on what their service to me was. Both finally was emailed. No letterhead, nothing official looking. BEWARE of ONLINE RESOLVE!

I was on facebook and accidently clicked on a picture of Harrison Ford and got a pop up stating that mt computer was infected and I had 5 minutes to call this number.

I called the number and thay said that would fix the computer for 199.99. I did send them the money. They worked on the computer one day and more or less quit. I have called them almost every day. They did refund my money but left my computer unuseable. I truly feel that thet deliberately but that link on facebooh. I also have good reason to believe that they have somr sort of admin password preventing me from getting my computer fixed buy ome one other that them.

Pop Up on my elderly mother's computer told her to contact this company to fix a problem on her computer. As she understood the pop-up and the contact, they were representing themselves as Microsoft. Not being aware that this type of scam was ongoing, she contacted them.

They said they performed "optimization", "browser reset", and "installed network security", and billed her $150 for their services, which she paid by credit card.

It's important to note that there was nothing wrong with her computer at the time.

After checking in with her sometime after this took place, and finding out what had happened, I got concerned. She had already been paying for online computer support from her ISP, and the pop-up and contact from "Microsoft" raised red flags with me. We're currently in the process of having someone we trust take a look at what issues may have been created by Online Resolve.

In the interim, I cleaned out some new software that had been placed on her computer, while we continued to attempt to figure out what had happened. Online Resolve again contacted her by phone, and made an attempt at getting her to do more with them. At some point in the conversation, my Mother told them she wasn't going to continue, and they got upset with her, asking her why, etc.

I contacted Online Resolve at their listed Customer Service and Billing Support phone number (888-334-5804), and made contact with a gentleman that was difficult to understand both due to volume on the call as well as a heavy non-english accent. Other phone numbers they have listed online include: 877-895-7028 and 888-389-7614

I gave him the order number that he requested...he couldn't find it. I gave him the phone number that they had contacted her at...he couldn't find it. I gave him the name...he couldn't find it. I was put on hold multiple times during this effort.

At that point I raised the question of what they were doing, and that their activities appeared to be fraud involving the elderly. He said he'd have someone contact me at my phone number within 24 hours. I made it very clear that they should contact me at my phone number, and not my mothers. That evening, they attempted to call my Mother (based on her caller id). Fortunately, we had already told her not to answer any calls from an 800/8778888 number. At the time they said they'd call back in 24 hours, my wife said fat chance. Turns out, she was right. It's now been over +30 hours and no call.

We've since worked with the credit card company to file a fraud claim and stop payment.
