I ordered the Welcome care package for my son, who is starting his freshman year, as well as a Student Advantage Card which would allow him discounts on textbooks, clothing, etc. The order was placed online for faster service.

My son's move-in day was Thursday, and Monday he started classes. I checked my email on Monday and the order status still shows "In Progress." So I called customer service and was told they would "check with the vendor" and send me an email with the status update. The rep also said the packages for my son's college are due to be delivered the next day, on Tuesday -- which means my son's package will not be included, since they haven't even shipped it yet. My order was placed on the 14th, and the website says orders are delivered in 5-9 days, and Tuesday makes Day 9.

So here it is Tuesday, and another check of my email -- no status update, no email from customer service, and the order still shows In Progress. Clearly my son will not receive his package on time.

I also emailed the company via their web form yesterday, but have not received a response.

Earlier in the summer, I had ordered a campus linens package for my son, which arrived in plenty of time since we ordered it early. However, like others who've filed a report here, the quality is crap. Walmart quality or worse. The pillow is a JOKE. Literally this stuff looks like it came from the dollar store. I agree with others who pointed out that Twin XL can be found at just about any store selling college items, including Bed Bath & Beyond, Kohls, Target, even Walmart. The OCM flyers make you think the beds are "special sized" and you can't get linens anywhere else. Bullsh*t. I really wanted to shop around for linens for my son, but in the interest of time we went with the linens package. Never again.

Now I have to explain to my son why he's not getting a Welcome package when everyone else is, and he already had to purchase his textbooks, which is the main thing the Student Advantage card was for. I just hope the company actually SENDS the card, so he'll at least have it for future purchases on other items like clothing, etc. (providing it actually works for things he needs...OCM was not very specific).

I just wish I'd found the reports here before placing my order. I would've just made my own Welcome package and sent it to my son. I'm definitely not sending him any of OCM's crap packages filled with Twinkies and Cheetos and other total junk foods in a "care package" that's WAY overpriced. The care packages we make for him will be much more thoughtful, healthier, and filled with love.

BTW: The Welcome package apparently consists of Ramen noodles (worst "food" on the planet!), Act II popcorn, and a couple of candy bars. Real college nutrition...NOT! That's what's visible from the tiny photo on my order receipt.

Quality of bedding (sheets) is terrible. The sheet pockets are super shallow, cannot accomodate a normal mattress, much less a mattress plus a pad, which they also sell and promote. Return costs are practically the cost of the item. Waste of money!

My younger son is a freshman this year. In the summer before school started, I received a letter with some goods order cards. it sounded like student organization on campus selling pacakages (snacks). In the letter it encouraged to buy more to support the nonprofit organiztion to provide welcome pacakage for all feshman students. I undered the most espensive pacakage for my son (>$170) and tried to give him a suprise when he got to school.

The fact is my son did not got any suprise, it is me. School started almost 2 , he did not receive anything at all. I called the company, then number showed on my credit card--866-847-, either nobody answer the phone or they were helpless. The whole name showed on my billing statement is OCM*OCM.COM 866-847-7365 MD. It is not university organization at all.

If you search online about OCM.com, there are lots of complains. Please do not buy anything from them, they are bad businese.

Horrible Quality; bad service

Shocked at how poor the quality was for my son's dorm package, even after paying to upgrade the items. Spent $354.64 on complete garbage...and paid additional convenience fee to have items in the dorm room when we arrived and they weren't there. No one responds to a refund request. Don't waste your money!

This company sent out advertising to all Freshman households attending University of Alabama for a FREE care Welcome to College Care package REGARDLESS if you ordered another care basket. In ordering a FALL FINALS BASKET for my Freshman, I was also to get the Free Welcome basket also. I handwrote cards that the company enclosed, filled out my billing information and sent it off.

Five weeks after school started, I received an email that my credit card could not be processed- please call. I called verified the card number that could not be read from my handwriting. That is my fault but not 5 weeks after the order. The day I call to verify my card, the card is run for THREE Fall Finals Baskets instead of one and the Welcome Basket - cancelled.

I called back the company, spoke to someone who assured me the order was set for only ONE free Welcome Basket and ONE Fall Finals Basket- the other charges would be refunded.

I called a week later to find out where the Free basket was and where my refund was. I was told the entire order had been cancelled and the refund would still take another 7-10 business days.

For my inconvenience- they shipped off the Free Wecome Basket - without the handwritten card I filled out with the original order. Come to find out- the cards go to corporate and the orders are shipped from a warehouse, per Belinda the supervisor that did me this huge favor of ordering the free basket to be sent after all this trouble. The basket that was supposed have gone 5 weeks ago WITH the handwritten card.

Still waiting for Free basket to arrive to daughter at UA and still waiting for my $120 refund that they charged me for ONE $40 Fall Finals Basket.

DO NOT USE this company Freshman parents -- of ANY college.

Warn your universities NOT to endorse this company-- complete and total rip-off and not worth all the time and effort spent to NOT have this order fulfilled!

Our daughter started at University of Kentucky, weeks before attending We purchased items from this company for our daughter's dorm room. we were supposed to receive the merchendise before She left for school, nothing arrived , We called them and they said that they were going to deliver the items to my daughter's dorm in 3 days, it never arrived. We called them again and they said that most of the order was on backed order and that they were sorry and that other patterns were available, We chose new patterns , supposed to get 20% off and be deliver in 3 days, never arrived. We asked to speak to a supervisor again and was told that We were going to get our money refunded in 7 to 10 days, it never happened. We called them again and a supervisor said that He was going to expedited our refund and it will take about 7 to 14 days more. Worst company ever, our daughter's first year day of college was ruined by this company, We drove to University of Kentucky to buy all new items from a store in Lexington, We should have done it from the beginning but We beleived and trusted this company. We learned our lesson. We still have not received our refund.

This company provides horrible customer service. Placed order for son's dorm stuff - package went on back order with no notification. Customer Service guys said no date, no information nothing he could do about it. Had to get 2 managers involved to get something shipped. Sat for 3 days and 2 telephone calls for a customer service rep to finally say oh we still screwed up a second time and didnt release your order. Son leaves in 5 days - We placed to order a month ago and I'm still fighting for my credit for the downsize in package and hoping my product actually ships this time. ... 3 phone calls later.

Although I have experienced poor customer service in the past, Our Campus Market's service was so awful that I felt compelled to go this route- a first for me.

Our Campus Market sent dozens of postcards and emails telling me that my son would be left out if we did not order him their $95 cheer package when he started college this Fall. I finally broke down and ordered the package, which is essentially a bundle of several care packages that are supposed to arrive at varied points during the year, such as near Halloween and Valentine's Day.

I was assured via email and phone that the products are top quality, are a substantial savings over buying such items individually, and that all packages arrive on time. Nothing could be further from the truth!!! My son received his first package weeks after school started and long after what we were promised; it was also long after others received their OCM cheer packages at his school. In fact the mailroom staff at his college told me his arrived nearly three weeks later than the others!

My attempts to talk with customer service about this issue were met with disdain and total ignorance. Most of the people with whom I spoke sounded very young and inexperienced. No one was apologetic or even sympathetic. In fact, I was utterly shocked at the tone of the representatives with whom I spoke who told me in snarky, condescending tones they are very busy and that I should be more understanding. You're kidding, right? I was even more shocked when I visited my son and saw the subpar quality of the package. Any reputable company well versed in customer service would have been apologetic and would have offered to do something to make up for their poor performance. OCM just wants your money and, once they get it, have no interest in living up to their promises.

Needless to say, I cancelled my order. Although I was only given a refund for around $50, rather than the full amount, I am glad to be rid of them! I will gladly make my own care packages for my son, filling them with quality items and ensuring that they arrive in a timely manner.

I ordered a birthday care package for my college son to be delivered today on his birthday. No problem. Except it never arrived. I called the company and they took about 10 minutes to figure out it hadn't shipped yet. They said he would get it within 2 days. Two days too late! What good is that. They refunded the shipping, but the order was almost $60. So I still paid $50 for a belated birthday basket of overpriced goodies. I thought this was campus based. It is not. It is a rip off company out of Pennsylvania. Do not use this company if you want your student to receive a gift in a timely manner. Very disappointed!!!
