This company, Old James Logistics Inc., is a sister company to Old James Freight out of Des Plaines, IL. Both are owned and run by the same guy, Bogdan Roman. I have to question why a trucking company with only 1 registered truck needs 2 separate companies. Seems to be standard practice in the Chicago area. Have a backup company in case the first one has problems. The way this guy operates it's probably a good idea.
The gist of it is that this guy recruited me to drive a truck for his Old James Freight company. He lied to me about a number of things, and hid things. Truck had a number of mechanical issues, and he hid them. Tried to spring a ridiculous contract on me after I showed up, even though I specifically told him I will not sign anything I haven't seen before I leave home. Made it clear he didn't want to put any real money into an "older" truck. Finally had enough after a weeks, and let him know I was quitting. The guy even tried to get me hired on with a friend of his while I was enroute to Chicago with the final load. I even got this company a clean DOT inspection in South Dakota on my way to Chicago. I was told to drop the load at a secure lot in Chicago, which I did. Truck and trailer had no damage. I even left my personal padlocks on the trailer, and left the keys behind, to maintain security of the load. I tried to be a pro till the end.
Now this dirtbag is withholding my final pay of about $3,000. It's been over 3 months. Put a severe financial strain on me and my family. I don't know if I will ever get what he owes me. I do know I'm going to use every tool I have to make it a lot harder for him to cheat anyone else.
I have filed a formal complaint with FMCSA about the condition of his truck, and the company withholding my pay. I am exploring other options.
