We have contracted with Ocean Shores Residential Mowing for three years. We live in Minnesota and have a lot in Ocean Shores, Washington. The lot is for a future home build. We wanted to keep the lot maintained for our build and had Ocean Shores Residential Mowing come in once a month from March to October (grass growing season) to cut the lawn and maintain it. We paid Ocean Shores Residential Mowing $48 and some change every month from March to October. We were in Ocean Shores July 1 to 8th and we noticed the grass on our lot was over 26 inches tall with overgrown weeds. We contacted Ocean Shores Residential Mowing and they said that they had just cut the grass. Well that wasn't possible! We were then told we obviously didn't understand a "once a month service" and then told that there was "unsual rain." I checked the rain for June in Ocean Shores, it was basically dry with two days in that month of rain.
Ocean Shores Residential Mowing claimed to have cut the grass on July 6. I took pictures on July 7th showing grass up to our hips and sent them a picture. I encouraged the owner to drive by the lot - suggesting someone else's lot was cut by mistake by his crew. He refused to even consider the possibility and kept saying his "records" indicated that they cut the grass July 6th.
I brought another lawn guy out on July 7th and he said "there is no excuse for letting a lawn get this out of control." He said he would have to mow it twice and week whack it to get it so he can maintain it. I told this to Ocean Shores Residential Mowing and he implied that the guy I spoke to was trying to "rip me off". Since I was physically at the location at the time and was "wading" through the grass at my own lawn, I fail to see how the other service provider was trying to rip me off.
As the owner won't even consider the possibility that something isn't right - nor suggest that he will fix the problem, and demand payment for services he didn't perform, I strongly urge people not to use this company for lawn maintenance services. Check with local realtors in the Ocean Shores area and they can provide you with a list of names of lawn care.
Ocean Shores is a small town with many vacant lots - many owned by people who live far away and don't come to the area that often. Hence, a person has to rely on the service provider doing what they state they will do. This provider has over 260 contracts in the area - I imagine that he isn't cutting the grass in a number of lots of people who live out of state and he is regularly sending them bills.
