Oasis Moving & Storage Reviews

  • Nov 19, 2019

DO NOT hire Oasis Moving & Storage Las Vegas! I was moving 4 hrs from Reno to San Francisco got quoted a reasonable price for a 5' x 5' storage unit (did not move whole unit). Was given a 2 day window for pickup- no call and they never showed up.

Third day they showed (My stepdad had to handle them- I had to head to CA). They loaded the truck after loaded demanded another $1200 - he called me and I said refuse - not what our contract said. They then told him they would take my things to Las Vegas (I was told 2 day delivery window Reno to SF)- they said 5 day window.

Getting close to the 5 days and I have not heard from them. I called and the most rude manager named Kathleen O'Shea yessl at me and said "we never said 5 days" also said "I don't have to give you a delivery date" I said "how will I know to be home with no delivery date"?

Kathllen said "not my problem, maybe you want to pay for storage too"! I had my mother call and Kathleen refused to talk to her said she needed me to email permission- so I emailed permission for my boyfriend and my lawyer to call and Kathleen said I will not talk to them- she finally talked to my boyfriend.

More days go by still no word on when I will get my belongs- had to buy a twin mattress to sleep on the floor. I told Kathleen O' Shea I would report them and she said and laughed "go ahead nothing will happen and you will be lucky to get any of your things".Afterb many arguments on the telephone trying to get answers (Kathleen was so obnoxious even said "that's not how you say my name and I won't answer you until you say my name right")

I pulled some strings and had someone from the Nevada Transportation Authority call them (thank God my mom knows people)- that is the only thing that got any action 14 days later... finally got a phone call from Oasis saying they would deliver in 2 days the hrly window of noon- 6 pm.

Finally day of delivery the truck shows up at 7:30 pm in the dark - I live in a little town outside of SF - no street lights. So they tell me they will have to come back - I refused to let them leave after holding my belongings hostage 16 days they demanded another $1500 - I paid it- I just wanted my things.

I am missing 10 boxes which have never shown up (filed a complaint with a company called Anthem Claims Management (total joke- 90 days from them they will let me know)... So 10 boxes missing- I have had to spend a couple thousand more replacing things - cuisineart, pots and pans , cutlery, etc ... not to mention irreplaceable things (a statue I have had for 19 yrs)... 5 boxes showed up severely damaged (ripped and one was wet)- I bought heavy duty boxes - they must have really thrown them around.

I bubble wrapped things and stuffed with newspaper and had many broken glass and ceramic pieces. This company is doing so many illegal things- I cannot understand how they are still in operation- someone must be sweeping things under a rug for them.

PLEASE DO NOT HIRE OASIS MOVING & STORAGE - and do not hire the broker First United out of Florida- they are who got me tangled up with this mess!

I'm sure we have all heard the same complaints, but i still want to post my comment, cause this place isn't just a bad company, they have found a semi legal way to steal people's money. I also might have some new and good stuff. They did the standard give a too-good-to-be-true estimate to make me give 10% down and sign up, then jack the price up above what others would charge after they got to my house and load up all my things. Everyone is really nice and prices are fair until they have your stuff, then you are forced to pay whatever they ask and they don't care what you have to say.

Their drivers try to scam as much additional money out of you as possible, My driver intentionally parked far way and told me I had to pay him $240 because he had to park 310 ft away from the apartment. I told him their is another entrance and if he takes it he can park right in front. He lied to me and said the construction workers told him he can't pass that way, lucky, i've been dealing with this company for over a month and i'm really sick of their crap. I asked the construction worker if the driver could pass and he said, yeah, semi's come through here all the time.

The paper work is horrible and the guys who come to your house know very little english, he told me he subtracted my dishes from the bill, and then i had dishes, so i had to pay him $28 cash??? i didn't even understand why i was giving him money, i just wanted him out of my house. And don't even bother talking to Oasis about additional cash transactions that happen with no receipt.

On delivery charged me more for my couch because it would not fit in the elevator, when i called Oasis, they told me their is no additional fee for this, but they still refuse to fix any of their mistakes.

The usual lost pieces and damaged things, that i'm dreading filling out the paper work for and not expecting much in return. They lost the posts and screws that attach my dresser mirror to the dresser, and he kept asking me where it was.... Ummm, I didn't take it apart, i didn't pack it up, i didn't drive it all the way around the country and switch trucks, and i didn't unpack it, Why are you asking me?

**One thing that i haven't seen anyone else mention that i'm going to look into. When the driver arrived i asked him how many people he was gonna have helping him, he said 2, and i asked something like, where are they from and he said he knows them. While the driver was measuring the distance from his truck to my door, i asked the movers how they know the driver, they both responded.... "We've never seen him in our life, he got us off craigslist". They told me he was paying them $20/hour, and i watched the driver give them both $40 at the end of it for 2 hours of work. When i mentioned it to Oasis Customer service, that was the first time i've heard her stumble over her words, but then she assured me that the random people on craigslist that she knows nothing about would never take my stuff!!!!???? And that sort set me off a little bit
