Nuwber, Inc. Reviews

I do private investigations and fraud investigations. This report is regarding all the "wanna-be" background check sites that are nothing more than fake information mills designed to sell names on mailing lists and for profit. If you paid for a background check on any of these services you have been:

A) scammed as a sucker

B) had your own info And credit card info) added to an insecure database for data mining!

Wise up!

Nuwber has a fake page where you can "remove your information" or in this case, my client's info. There is no page dedicated to the person you are looking up, and you will get deliberate errors when attempting to use their fake removal page. If you click the person's name, as i did for my client - it takes you to truth finders who has many fraudulent doorway sites that lead you to a paid service.

Also what consumers need to know, is that this information is often pulled from public records and can be altered when they send you a paid report. Meaning, if someone is stupid enough to use one of these pseudo background-check sites, they may get incorrect and misleading information on a person. This happened to my client who was denied a job because her information was crossed and combined with someone who had a felony on their record.

You have to understand that these companies are nothing more than identity mills. Also consumers need to be aware that their own info After they pay for services) is placed into a database that is sold over and over again for email marketing, spammers, and yes, even i.D. Theft criminals who use these sites as a social-engineering ploy to extract information. People willingly just give credit cards to these companies!

Case in point: my client had me investigate several "background check" sites and i found them all to be giving incorrect information on people as well as putting paying customers and their addresses into the search data base for marketing and spam purposes. My client also received un-solicited text messages shortly after paying for a report on herself to see what was being put out there.

These companies do not ever remove your information. Consumers need to go to the better business bureau or find other means to ban these sites from gathering personal information and selling it to the highest bidder.

If you legitimately have to find a person or do a background check - you need to have their signed approval to have a background check performed by a professional company. This is in the case of employment background checks or rental / lease background checks. Consumers cannot just type in a name, pay a fee and get correct information. Legitimate employers do not use these fraudulent sites - and if they do? Then shame on them.

I would recommend that anyone finding garbage on them on a background check or information "mill" be very selective in which info they provide on any documents. Public records: do not include your home address or phone numbers!

If you have been harassed and stalked by a person Or persons) as my client was, please file some type of police report. Please file a public report like this one right now the will at least give you a web page to out the fraudsters and alert other consumers about this.

Do not pay any company to do background checks unless you have a legal reason to do a background check with an actual service who is legally authorized to do that. Most of these services are abused by an ex-significant other to stalk and abuse a person. If you are being stalked, as my client was Is) please take it seriously.

You might do well to research the company in a whois internet search and report offenders who are peddling shoddy information, and/or incorrect information that can harm the reputation of an individual if it is cross-referenced with a criminal etc.

Some of these gateway "doorway sites" are nuwber, truth finder, switchboard, spokeo, instant checkmate etc. They are all basically the same hub company, or pull their files from the same sources.

Your information is worth big $$$$ to these companies.

Don't be an idiot and give them your credit card and other info for the cheap thrill of "getting info on someone" thinking you're being clever and sneaky. The joke is on you! please consider something like lifelock or other services to protect your identity before it is too late.

I hope this helps consumers.
