NumbersAlive Reviews

  • Dec 8, 2019

I was contracted by "The Numbers Lady" to finish a website (NumbersAlive.org) for her that another team was working on. Apparently she was frustrated with the progress the other team had been making and after one meeting she contracted me to complete the website. My understanding I was completing the already in progress website and estimated it would take about three-4 weeks.

It was not long after that I learned why two groups of developers either rejected working with or stopped working with her at all. She is insulting and condescending. Regardless of that I continued working with her and what I guess is her partner (some French dude that travels with her).

I met with them regularly (their complaint of the previous developer was he was not meeting with them) and provided updates almost daily. Mind you this was supposed to be a part time thing (up to 30 hours) but I was working on it full time. They kept changing the designs and the business model was changing every other week.

After 4 invoices (2 months, she insisted a bi-monthy payment) she started acting real strange. She had automatically opted into recurring billing and the fourth invoice was autopaid, catching her by surprise. This is when the relationship went from "I can deal with this" to "its unbearable and not worth it."So I met with them one more time and after an hour of pure nonsense and insults, I ended the meeting.

I explained to them that I will work over thanksgiving week to complete the website and go live. I spent all of thanksgiving break finishing it and set up a walk thru call (free of charge) for her and everyone else she was working with. Her response at 2AM was a letter that was both condescending and insulting. At that point I also noticed that she was past due on her last bill and have since put the websites on maintenance mode.

I have been in talks with her lawyer and they have agreed to not pay the last invoice and am taking them small claims court.

I would be very cautious dealing with her and so called foundation. They are constantly traveling in the Middle East like UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia dealing with some very questionable actors. I also felt uneasy about working with them because I felt they were trying to defraud the IRS by claiming the dozens of trips they take to the Middle East, writing them off as work travel. Work with her at your own peril.
