North America Prime, Inc. Reviews

Briefly, the entire expeirence has been a nightmare. Salesman who lied to me on phone, demanded I sign document online without being able to see entire document or they would not be able to get to my move within time I needed. Misquoted cubic feet, tried to charge me more than twice the amt first quoted. Truck they brought did not have room to hold my things, they put my things in a monthly storage unit, kept the key, charged me $320 in cash in order to have my things picked up later and promised a May 6 delivery date. My things were missing for over 2 weeks. Found out they had been taken to Fla , placed in storage. I was told they would have to find another co to bring my thing to me in Colorado.

I had to get police involved to find out where my things were and to keep the co from over charging me before they would transport to co. When arrived to CO, the driver informed me I owed more than what I was quoted originally. Called co and was chewed out by two managers. One threatened to throw everything they had brought into a storage if I would not pay the extra money. Finally talked to someone who backed down and drive stated he was going to unload my things regardless of what they were demanding. ( he was from another company).

I have lost over half of my household items . Missing, broken ,damaged . I am completing an inventory report to submit. The inventory sheet was filled out in a hurry by the first driver and was inaccurate. I cannot tell everyone quickly enough to avoid this company at all costs.

Just read reports online, read better business bureau reports, etc.

The company does not want to deal with any banks. They demand case or postal money order. Very suspicious indeed and I hope that the Federal Trade Commisiion, FBI, National Transportation Board and any other agency that is responsible for protecting consumers will take action on this company and shut them down.

I contracted North America Prime to haul a portion of my grandmother's estate from CO to FL. An estimate was provided to me including 222 cubic feet at $6 per cubic feet, with a 10% fuel surcharge, and a tariff discount of $300. This gave an estimated total of $1165.21. I arranged with the salesman to ensure all payments were through myself, however my grandmother would open the storage cabinet so that dispatch could load the items. The final bill received was for $3520 due to the loading space being documented at 400 cubic feet.

Several problems:

The truck operators did not allow my grandmother to verify that the final truck space was for 400 cubic feet.

The truck operators packaged and loaded prior to mentioning that it would be more than estimating.

The truck operators still made my grandmother pay $1000 out of pocket at the time of pick-up and sign a very obtuse contract, regardless of phone arrangements. Her quote “I felt like I had no choice, I’m so sorry.” I have not received a receipt (which I requested) from the company confirming this payment but my grandmother confirmed they cashed the check. My grandmother is NOT the contract owner and there was zero legality in her signature.

When I received an electronic version of the final bill, it was completely illegible and I could not see an actual amount I owed. My grandmother mailed me the copy of the Order for Service, and Binding Estimate of Cost and a Form Household Goods of Bill of Lading and Freight Bill, all of which are barely legible.

There appears to be a mismatch between what their inventory shows and what my grandmother wrote out. I labeled all paintings and boxes with numbers to ensure I had the appropriate delivered items.

Even if the final space is 400 cubic feet, at $6 per cubic feet that is $2400, with a 10% fuel surcharge of $240, and what may or may not be an $800 packaging charge (I’m uncertain as to what this is for as the original estimate states loading/unloading/disassemble/reassemble/wrapping service with pads are all included in the estimate.

There was a tariff discount in the original estimate for $300. In the final bill there is no mention of a tariff discount. I asked for the promised discount to be applied. Bridget from the Hollywood branch said that a discount cannot be applied to the bill because it was already applied to the estimate.

Since the incident I have attempted to contact the company by phone, letter, email, and written legal notification. They have no arbitration process (as required by law to maintain their DOT license). They have forwarded phone calls to disconnected lines and they do not have management on site. They have laughed at my requests (3 of which phone calls I have recorded). And if you locate their location recorded on their FMCSA site, it is a residential townhouse. If you complain enough they just move around their location.

I have filed formal reports with the FMCSA, DOT, Florida Dept. of Consumer Affairs, local news stations, etc. If you have had these issues, please file at these institutions as well. The more the merrier if we want a class action lawsuit.
