On Saturday July 21, 2018 around 7:50 pm my tenant called me because she was locked out of her apartment. I googled a lock smith in the area and found Newark Locks and Keys. The company came out for the lock out and was able to open the door for the tenant. I was charged $224.00 on my credit card for them get the tenant into the apartment. The next day I was informed by my tenant the door handle was broken off with a hammer. I reached out to the company and spoke to the owner and expressed my disapproval for the services that I received from his company. I felt that calling a lock smith would save me from breaking and damaging the lock and having to replace it. If I wanted to break it i would have saved $190.00. I replaced the broken lock myself. The owner of the company would not refund any of my money. He stated that was what he charges. He also told me they were unable to do what i had asked (to "pick" the lock) so they broke the lock instead. No one called me to ask if this was ok. The company knew the tenant was a leasee and that I owned the property. They had my contact information. I would like my money back since i feel i was ripped off and i would NEVER recommend anyone else use this company.
