THIS IS A NEGATIVE REVIEW FROM A LICENSED CONTRACTOR.
I have been in the industry for over 15 years. In early February 2020, I was contacted by a NJ Skylands insured homeowner about wind damage to his roof.
I promptly responded, confirmed the damage and temporarily tarped the roof. I estimated the repairs around 12k using industry approved estimating software Xactimate. Xactimate is used by contractors and insurance adjusters to accurately estimate repairs.
Progressive/NJ Skylands (and/or its affiliates) sent an "independent contractor" to inspect. That contractor confirmed the damage and estimated repairs at approximately $2000.Obviously, there is a huge disparity between $12,000 and $2,000.
The homeowner has been constantly contacting his adjuster and even requested the adjuster’s supervisor, to no avail.
His emails and phone calls have fallen on deaf ears and now he's being IGNORED by them. All the while his roof remains tarped which is not only ugly, but only meant to be temporary. Not sit for 3 months in harsh winds and rain. I am hugely disappointed in NJ Skylands. I would look elsewhere for coverage as homeowners are obviously NOT their priority.
