Network Solutions, LLC. Reviews
This company sells websites for nearly three times the price of other competitors. They have horrible organization skills in their phone system. They offer a cheaper product and service compared to other competitors and yet it is twice as expensive. They talk a big game with their tv advertisements and automated phone system about premium customer service.
Usually when you see a company trying desperately with these two strategies to gain customers they usually have a terrible product. They use what is called a template platform to build their websites from. Basically a cookie cutter design where you just insert the information into the site. Well this doest work for large companies like google.
Google actually deducts points for template based websites. This company doesn't mention this information. I didnt receive a single phone call in 12 months from this website, even with the minimal amount of seo work that was done to it. If you use this company it is at your own personal loss.
I called Network Solutions on the evening of July 12, 2021 to renew some of the domain names that I have registered with this company. My company credit card was charged for the renewal of nine (9) domain names, but they only renewed seven (7) out of the nine ((9) that I was charged for. This company also failed to e-mail me the usual order confirmation. But, I was able to confirm the renewal of seven of the nine by checking my online account.
I called Network Solutions back after seeing that my company card had been charged for the full amount for the renewal of nine domain names. The first person I spoke with didn't know much, and he was on his way home. I called back again (third time), and I actually reached the person that I had spoken with originally that had placed my order incorrectly. This person acted like he didn't remember anything about my original order even though I had spoken with him no more than thirty (30) minutes before I had reached him a second time by telephone.
I then spoke to this person for several minutes, and he continued to deny that I had placed an order earlier because their records didn't reflect it properly even though he was the person that actually placed the order originally for me. I was on the phone for 58 minutes and six seconds in an effort to resolve their error so that I would not have to deal with this issue during the rest of the week. I continued to insist that my order had been placed and that my company credit card had been charged for the full amount.
This person finally verified that my order had been placed, but that there was an error with the order and it would take another 24-48 hours to resolve. I had asked this same person to get his supervisor so that I could speak with his supervisor, but the never put me through to his supervisor claiming they were busy throughout the entire 58 minutes and six seconds I was on the phone with this person. This person was responsible for the error in my order.
This is not the first problem I have had with this company. A few years back I found that ALL of my domain names had been merged with another account without my permission, and they were being ransomed back to me for a very large price. I made a major issue of this to Network Solutions security people, and they finally returned the large number of domain names back to my account. But, they refused to tell me who had stolen these domain names from me in the first place. This led me to believe that one of their own employees had stolen my domain names.
STAY FAR WAY from this company. This is one of the most poorly managed companies I have ever done business with. They employ dishonest and incompetent people, and they cover up for their incompetent and dishonest employees.
I used Network Solutions for years for my domain registration service provider. Once I cancelled I began receiving spam email by the boatload from 3rd party sites using information that could only have been provided by them. So be forewarned if you provide them with your personal email you will get spammed at some point about your prior web business.
I have used Network Solutions for decades. Last time I renewed my domain subscription was 9 years ago. The domain expired 5 days ago. They say they sent me warnings to my old email address, which is unusable. So they asked for a "reinstatement" fee of over $30. When I asked if I could just use another domain registration provider, the person said that I cannot use the domain for 75 days. Don't know if that's a lie or not, but it sounded like a pure blackmail.
They would not wave the reinstatement unless I subscribed to their "search engine" registration program of $100 a month. So I decided to pay for one year only, with came to $68 including the reinstatement fee. As soon as my domain is up, I am switching the domain registration to my account service provider who also does domain registration, FOR FREE.
Then I will call Network Solutions back to ask them for reimbursing me at least the $38 for the one-year subscription, and I will see if they will be any more customer-oriented.
For all those who are dealing with domain registration, DO NOT USE NETWORK SOLUTIONS, they are a BIG RIPOFF company, charging for domain registration when it could be gotten free elsewhere, and on top of that charging the bizzare "REINSTATEMENT" fee. This is worse than the various late feed credit companies charge.
About a month before one of our websites was due to expire, I renewed the domain name and hosting services at a special rate quoted on the phone. While on the phone, I paid the bill via debit card and got a confirmation e-mail. The next day, I received another e-mail stating our website needed to be renewed or services would be canceled on the expiration date.
This was my first call to correct the problem. They had refunded the payment and requested I pay full price. After being redirected a few times, I told them I would be canceling my account and they agreed to honor the agreed price. I paid it again and the same thing happened again.
Before paying again, I decided to move the domain name to our national account with Network Solutions. We have a lot of products, so no more negotiating the price. Once the domain was transferred and merged, I paid $19.98 for two years domain name registration, waited on the phone to make sure the transaction cleared - it did. Got the confirmation e-mail.
The next day, I received yet another e-mail saying the domain was expired and the website would be taken down if payment was not received. I called them again to find out that they are claiming the payment was not received. They asked me to provide proof through my bank. I faxed over a letter with the transaction details for the debit charge. Five days later, the website is still down.
The next person I spoke with said our account was suspended because we only made a partial payment. Their regular price was $37.99 per year for domain name renewal. This time, they acknowledged receiving the payment and the agent on the phone said she'd fix the problem and apologized profusely. It would take 24 hours to resolve.
It's now 6 tickets later and no resolution. They are claiming now that they need to expedite this to their billing department to see the order number to prove they received the money. In the meantime, I noticed two of our other domain names automatically renewed at the $37.99 rate, so they processed a refund for $56 for this, but the original problem still exists.
The supervisor told me that he understands how frustrating this is, but he can't put the website back up until they see they've been paid. I'm between a rock and a hard place here because we have over 20 websites being hosted by this company and it would take months of work to move everything to another company. In fact, last summer I tried to move another inactive website we owned to 50webs, but Network Solutions wouldn't unlock that website for the transfer. Since this was an inactive website, we weren't all that concerned about it, but it gave us a taste of what was to come.
I asked the customer service supervisor what would happen if web.com and Network Solutions insists they never received the $19.98 Bank of America said was indeed paid. . . he told me, I'd have to pay the bill or the suspension would continue. If this happens, we will leave the company and I'll figure out how to get everything done.
One of our web designers told us he no longer works with any new customers who use Network Solutions or Web.com. When I asked him why, he said he's got issues with their billing practices and unfair treatment of their customers. We are a text book example of this.
