MY WIFE AND I PAID IN 2019 IN FULL FOR A TRIP TO SEE THE PASSION PLAY IN GERMANY. TOTAL COST$8382 THEY SEND US BACK $6082 THEY KEPT 2300. WHY ? THEY PROVIDED NO SERVICE. THE COUNTRY WAS SHUT DOWN DUE TO COV-19. PLEASE TELL EVERYONE THAT THEY ARE "RIP OFF ARTIST" THANK YOU JOHN
NAWAS has never refunded ANY money for a trip to Oberammergau, Germany that was cancelled in mid-March 2020 due to COVID-19! It is now June 3, 2020. The trip cost $4809.00 per person. We paid a total of $9658.00 for 2 people. NAWAS is also claiming that they have a right to withhold $1000 per person out of the $4809 (25%!).
They claim that we cancelled the trip because the company claims that we still could have traveled if we chose, or that we could have chosen to travel with them in summer 2022. They also claim that they cannot refund any money until they get their own money back. Apparently they are doing this to MANY other customers. I am willing to help with a class-action suit if needed. This is unethical robbery.
This trip was booked specifically for Oberammergau 2020 It was not booked for the Passion Play occurring in any other year or for any other tour regardless of year. The NAWAS assertion that they can withhold any portion of our payment due to OUR cancellation is a direct violation of their own terms and conditiions, their own advertyising and promotion, and morally outrageous. We did not cancel, NAWAS did. NAWAS accepted their own risks in this contract. They cannot transfer any portion of their liability and we will not agree to accept any portion of it.
NAWAS has tried to transfer responsibility to us by forcing us to choose future travel options created by them, or signing a document saying that we cancelled. They cannot abridge our rights by requiring us to sign a form that withholds a portion of our payment, and we will assert our rights through all legal channels in order to obtain full restitution.
We urge others who has been harmed in this circumstance to aggressively pursue full reimbursement. Opportunities to jointly pursue our rights will be welcomed.
Do not trust this outfit!!!. My wife and I paid in advance for a trip/tour to the Oberammergau Passion Play for this year. NAWAS International Travel is one of the major US agencies providing tours to the Passion Play. The agency has hundreds, if not thousands of bookings throughout the season. When the Passion Play was cancelled, NAWAS sent an e-mail to all clients stating that they would only reimburse clients for a portion of the trip.
Frankly, they offer no guarantee that they will reimburse any of their clients' payments. This is unethical and very unfair. NAWAS prides themselves as a Christian organization but its actions speak otherwise. Virtually all airlines, tour agencies, sporting event venues, performance venues in the US are providing full refunds for pre-paid reservations due to the pandemic. The Federal Government is providing stimulus funds to organizations affected by the pandemic.
NAWAS will undoubtedly benefit both ways by receiving stimulus money from the government and cheating clients. Seniors such as we are may not be able to attend the Passion Play in 2022 as a result of this loss.
Trip to the above was postponed to 2022 due to coronavirus pandemic. They offered 2 Options on April 15, 2020, ie, Opt. 1, $2000 credit (non-refundable) on Passion Play 2022 Tour with remainder of monies refunded. They will hold the credit amount to 2022 and if for whatever reason we cannot tour then, we will lose it; Opt. 2, I can cancel if I don't wish to travel, however, refunds less $1150 will be returned.
On May 1, 2020, we received an email from Carol McGrath, NAWAS Tour Operator, adding (2) more options, ie, the 3rd Option which is now #1 states Travel on Rescheduled Tour in Fall of 2020-full credit given. Where are we going/what month, etc. (our country is still in lockdown=how could a statement as such be made (this credit offer is also non-refundable). Their 4th Option is their Option 3, shows a Full credit on any Nawas tour in 2021-if unable to travel in 2021, you will once again lose that money!
Neither of these 4 options are doable. Firstly, majority, if not all, going to this Passion Play are senior citizens and who can definitively make plans 2 years in advance. I signed up because this trip was a very meaningful/spiritual trip to me, going through a Catholic Church with a priest as Tour Leader and through this "christian" travel agency. They provided the insurance agency, Aon Affinity and strongly recommended that we purchase the Passenger Travel Protection Plan, which I did for $339 (which I have been told will not be refunded). My total amount paid in full was $4620 (thus far no refunds).
