I was retained to appear for an appearance company for a hearing in Tampa, FL.

The agreed fee IN WRITING was $100. On arrival it was discovered that the booking company didn't know that the case had been settled. 90 MINUTES AFTER the hearing was to have taken place I received an email stating that the appearance was "canceled". The company paid me $50 and REFUSES to pay the $50 balance. This may not be a large amount but the principle of stiffing attorneys who do appearance work is apparently rife in the practice because there are many of us who do that.
There was a valid contract. There was (1) an offer, (2) acceptance (3) performance. Cancelation was attempted AFTER performance -- appearing as agreed -- was performed.
I have invoiced the company and tried to contact them. They refuse to reply. If anyone agrees to accept bookings as an attorney from this company BE WARNED THAT THEY ARE NOT ETHICAL AND DO NOT PAY JUST FEES!!!
