Recently, while searching for an apartment to rent the realtor had me complete an application with National Tenant Network which is nationwide. I hadn't heard of them before but I was told that it's a credit report and the realtor do not even get to see the report. I paid $25 to complete the report and was declined the apartment for having two evictions toally $18,000.00. I was surprised because I've never had an eviction and judgements. I pulled my credit report there was nothing showing. I called the court and they had no judgements showing under my name. I called my landlord and he said he'd filed no judgement. However, it was under the management company's name...even they said they knew nothing about it.
Eventually, I called NTN and they told me they just pull it from public records not from the courts or credit reporting agencies. I asked, well how do you know the information is correct. They said if not correct, I should file a re-investigation form. I didn't understand why I would be giving you permission to re-investigate when I didn't give you permission to investigate. Anyway, I received a letter from my landlord showing that I had no eviction or judgement against me and I'm still waiting for them to right the wrong done to me. I also plan to report them to the better business bureau
