These folks want your telephone number so they can pedal it to multiple Insurance Companies. Their postcard-type Mailer is printed to look like it's Medicare govt' related.

The fine print (in #2pica), that no senior can read, says they are not Gov't affilated.

Trying to make you give them your telephone to scam you

  • Jan 30, 2018

They want me to return a post card with my signature, age, spouse age, and phone number in order to apply for the benefit.

Received one of those official looking notices in the mail where you tear one side and then pull out the insert. Insert says 2018 benefit update on top. Then goes on to state that I may now qualify for a state-regulated life insurance program that my government death benefit does not cover regardless of my medical condition. It states to return the card today which asks for your signature, my age, spouses age, and phone number to receive FREE information on how this special program will pay 100% of all funeral expenses not covered by government funds up to $15,000. First I didn’t know I even had any government funds - interesting. This is a card that you give your information on one side and on the other side is their mailing address with "no postage necessary”. Your information is now visibly see able to anyone who handles this mailer. There is no phone number or email, website to contact them and actually speak with a human. This is a scam to make it look like it is from a government agency. DO NOT fill out and return. No official agency would ask for your signature and how old you are just to receive information about this special insurance. It’s special all right .... I wonder if Capital Hill is aware of the fact that the address is just a stones throw away on Pennsylvania Avenue.

I will transcribe the text of the postcard I received in the mail today, November 15th, 2017, below:

(It "appears" to be "legit", but I didn't fall off a turnip truck yesterday. I am so tired of seeing scams like this. Thank You.)

"IMPORTANT: PROJECTED MEDICARE CHANGES (Far right corner, this number: 0514220000221)

Sharon Earll,

Proposed cuts to existing government programs include a significant reduction in the federal Medicare program, resulting in an increase in premiums and fees that you must pay... and a decrease in some benefits.

This new cutback in the federal Medicare program means that you will become responsible for an even greater portion of your health care expenses... expenses that were previously paid by Medicare.

For more information about these changes and how they will personally affect you and your present health care coverage, simply complete and return this postage paid card today. There will be no cost or obligation for this information.

Hah!! As if I would sign this and send it back.

Saw a post from another state (Missouri?) on your website, when I searched this address.

That is why I am letting you know about this postcard.

Thank you for all that you do to protect We, the People.

Peace Out!!

The card claims that the government is making significate reductions in Medicare, resulting in higher premiums and a decrease in some benefits. For more information, they ask that you sign the card, and provide telephone number, and age and return it. I'm sure that is a scam to get my phone number, and to try and sell me insurance, and even to possibly sell my information. The outside of the envelope it came in states that it is not affiliated with any government agency.

Recieved official loooking envelope. The kind you fold here and tear. Inside was an official looking documentation with numbers printed in the top left corner. The header says 2017 Benefit Update for... and then right below my legal name.

The document then goes on indicating that the Social Security Administration has made funds available for final expense planning. It goes on about how I should know all about my benefits available to me, this Special Program will pay 100% of all funeral expenses the government doesn't cover up to $15,000 (Tax Free).

They ask for my age, my spouses age, and my phone number. This is clearly a scam, and for elderly individuals this would sound like a blessing.

2017 Benefits Update For Missouri Citizens Only, This postage paid communication card was sent expressing that information could be obtained for special programs that could pay 100% funeral expenses up to $15,000 (Tax Free), through the Social Security Administration along with state regulated life insurance programs by simply signing the card along with a telephone number. In this world of fraud and scams, one must be cautious concerning giving personal information, and we the senior citizens of this country seem to be readily targeted, and many are regrettably dubbed, falling prey to these types of hypes.
