A salesperson, Mike came for an estimate. I decided not to go with them because the estimate was too high. Mike said, "Wait, wait, wait. Watch what I can do for you!" and he called "Regional Manager" three different times to bring down the price. I told him that my daughter is getting married, and they are moving in June.
It was very important for me to get her room ready before their stuff get delivered on 6/1. He then told me about “rush installation”. He promised that the installation will take one day! To proceed with “rush installation”, he said I need to waive my right to cancel the contract. I did it because both Mike and his Manager verified&confirmed that the material that I wanted was in stock and ready in the warehouse.
So, I waived a 3-day cancellation for faster and quicker installation. I signed the contract based entirely on the fact that they were in stock, and I was guaranteed of the installation on 5/4/22. After I signed the waiver and “tap-sign” the e- contract from his small tablet, Mike then asked for a deposit. I wanted to pay with my credit card, but his company does not accept credit cards. I wrote a check for $2,679. Just two days before the installation day, I was contacted by NFD.
Kim said that the flooring material that I wanted failed an inspection and the new installation date is 6/7/22. I told her that I will have to get my daughter's room ready before 6/1. The only reason I signed the contract was because Mike promised installation by 5/4, not 6/7. Kim emphasized that I signed the contract, and on that contract, the completion date was written as 7/3/22. I said, "What?" Mike deceived me to sign the waiver and the contract without thorough explanation.
There was no print-out contract that I could read before I sign. He only brought a small tablet and he wanted me to "tap to sign". He did not give me an opportunity to review it before I sign. If he mentioned anything about possibility of getting delayed beyond 5/4, I would not have gone with this company because I just could not take any chances due to my daughter's wedding!
I told Kim that we can’t do her room on 6/7 and certainly no way in 7/3. I requested her to refund our deposit back. When I tried to dispute this, Kim said that NFD does not give refunds under any circumstances because I signed the waiver and the contract. I was manipulated by their deceptive marketing tactics, and they already cashed my deposit a day after the sales rep came to our house! NFD cashed my check real fast. I asked to speak with a manager.
Kim said she is the manager. I asked for a Regional Manager, Kim said he does not talk to customers, but only with them. I asked for the owner. Kim said that the owner does not talk to customers either. I spoke with Alexis on 5/4 & Marylyn on 5/5. All 3 of them were awful. I told Alexis about their false advertisement, and their deceptive & manipulative marketing tactics.
They entice people with guaranteed “rush installation”, but that's bait. It's their tactic to lure customers and get their $. Everything is nothing but a big lie. I told Alexis that NFD intentionally lies to customers, and they trap/force customers to buy their products. She raised her voice and interrupted me so many times to a point that I just want to cry.
She yelled at me and said, "It is your responsibility to review the contract before you sign!" I paused little bit to breathe. I said, "Mike had a small tablet. He literally pointed lines and told me to tap. He never asked me if I want to review it." At this time, Alexis was screaming on the other line and did not let me finish. She said, "You signed the contract, and it is your responsibility to review, not the sales rep." She also threatened me that if I do not let them do the work then my deposit will be forfeited.
Plus, I'll have to pay 30% of restocking fee, contract fee, cancelation fee, and other fees. If I decide to go with them then I will have to give the installers the remaining balance of $6K BEFORE they start the work. If I don't pay them first, they will not start. On 5/5, another manager named Marylyn called. I told her about how NFD lied about “rush installation” “guarantee” of great work, I asked her to give my money back. She said, “No”. She then compared it to Amazon.
Customers pay Amazon before they receive orders. She said, NFD is like that and they didn't do anything wrong. I tried to dispute, she yelled at me so I had to tell her stop yelling at me. She said, “Are you going to give your life away because it is on the contract? You don’t ever never sign a contract w/o reviewing it first. You failed to review it. It's your fault." They were rude & condescending.
They treated me like a second-class citizen. When I told her I trusted everything Mike and his Manager had said. She yelled, "I don't care what they've said!" I was shocked! I said, "Mike is your employee and you should care. Aren't you guys working for the same company?" NFD will do anything to get your $.
I had the exact same experience as the customer in Astoria, NY. Exactly the same sales pitch and received a thin cheap floor with a completely damaged finish. There is a 90 day installation warranty so they have ignored calls hoping I will go away until the warranty expires. They kept sending “experts” from their installation department to repair the floor, but nothing could be done. I was told repeatedly that a new floor was ordered only to be told by someone else in customer service that no one ever said that. Finally, a manufacturers rep was sent to my home after 2 months of constantly calling and dealing with fake repairmen.
He agreed that the floor was defective and needed to be replaced. He contacted the company and gave his recommendations and told me that they would contact me to arrange for an installation. Of course they didn’t call so I followed up again and was told that they never received any such report. The manufacturer’s rep kindly called them again and now I’ve received a document that they want me to sign first releasing them from any liability if this installation is done improperly. These are fraudulent and coercive business practices and during a PANDEMIC!
This company should not be allowed to conduct business in this state or anywhere for that matter. There are so many complaints against this company. The owners hide behind their customer service department and have fake phone numbers on their websites. This company should be investigated and prohibited from engaging in these practices. The salesman came to my home telling how great good quality made in the USA their flooring is. He told me the flooring has a lifetime warranty. He told me they dont subcontract and have their own people so you dont have to worry about anyone coming to do the job. they price gauge. First their scam is giving you a high price in my case 7000 for a 300sq ft bedroom. Then he calls someone and gets special pricing thats only good as long as hes there. so now the price is 3800 plus tax for prefinished hardwood not prefinished engineered hardwood.
So now installers come and they said this is wrong floor to put down that its too thin. I had to pay additional 700 for plywood to be placed so this thin floor would work to be installed. on swatch he showed i asked why is it so thin and he said just a sample color its thicker. I said i ordered prefinished hardwood and the installers said it wasnt hardwood it was engineered wood. my other quotes were cheaper and he didnt even match or do 15% better as they advertise because he made it seem his product very high quality. So i agreed to pay the price.
i called company to complain that this isnt what i wanted and he said you picked it out he showed you samples. you signed contract with that product. My mistake was docusign print so small i didnt read contract. I trusted what he told each page was about. The customer service manager was rude and threatened me with 1000s of dollars in fees if cancel said its in contract and i wouldnt get deposit back and i have to keep that floor. I asked the installers if worked for company and they said they are subcontracted so i was lied to.
I was crying as he threatened me with fees and bullied me into completing job as they already started ripping up my carpet and i cant afford to lose that money and pay someone else to do the job. I never got paper receipts was told to take a picture of when i paid balance. the lifetime warranty was a lie. it says limited warranty for manufacturer and limited warranty 90 days through company. after moving a dresser when they were done installing the stain ripped up easily like a piece of paper. Great high quality product huh... and there was damage to my wall and ceiling from workers.
Company told me they are not responsible for damage and i told them my floor is already damaged and since they warranty it for 90 days can someone come back and fix it. He told me they dont cover damage from furniture.. I said ok so what kind of damage does your 90 day warranty cover? He was quiet and never answered. So i paid 4900 for a bedroom floor! with a piece of crap wood that i didnt ask for. This company lies and scams and i filed complaint on BBB and looked at other complaints which are alot and almost everyday! They didnt care the salesman lied to me They wouldnt make it right and refund me anything or offer to replace floor with solid hardwood which i thought i was paying high price for.
Got scammed into paying high price for a piece of crap. How is the company still in business with all the complaints of lying and scamming they do to people? How is this ok to let them victimize more people. their same scam with the initial price mentioned in another complaint. all lies they tell. its terrible. Ive been so anxious upset crying that i let someone take advantage of me this bad. when asked to speak to someone higher up the customer service manager said there isnt anyone higher than him . When i asked for contact info for president or VP daniel rosenberg i was told they dont give that info out and they dont talk to customers anyway.
These people in this company have been getting away with this scam for years and nobody is doing anything about it i deserve a refund or at least a partial. The complaints on BBB are everyday! how does this company get away with this. Its terrible. Please do something it isnt right.
This company is a scam operation plain and simple. They are masters at bait and switch. They promise you one thing but deliver a far inferior service than what you paid for.
STAY AWAY from these guys. Do your homework and read all the pitiful reviews everyone has posted on yelp and other sites. No one has had a good thing to say about these guys. not 1!! That should tell you everything... they changed names years ago... gee i wonder why...
This company needs to be help accountable for their dangerous practices. I am going to continue to spread the word about how dangerous this company is.
Stay clear of National Floors Direct. The quote they provide will most likely be the lowest, but the reason they can do that is because they contract out the floor installation to the cheapest installers that cut corners. I had every room in my condo done by them in October 2018. I started to notice the floor buckling in April/May of 2019.
I called their so-called Customer Service Dept. I was instructed to take pictures of the problem and send via email to them. I was also reminded that they only guarantee their installation for 3 months. Because my floor was installed in October it was fine throughout the winter months then I started to see the problems in the Spring when the floor EXPANDS.
The installers did not leave ample room for the expansion of the floor therefore causing the floor to buckle. The floor is not even one years old and THEY wouldn’t even send someone out to inspect. They promised to return my phone calls but never did. Save yourself the aggravation and stay AWAY from National Floors Direct.
I Paid $4300.00 TO Install of 800 square feet of laminent flooring THAT was postponed at the last minute, which was very inconvenient because my son was supposed to be there with me when they came to install. When they arrived 3 days later, They saw an 80 year old lady and tried to up the charges $850.00 for moving my furniture, when moving the few items in my home was included in the price. After they upset me terribly, they agreed to move the furniture at no additional cost, but I had my son come over that night and move all the items that they were complaining about anyway.
Then they tried to put down a cheaper 1/4 round molding when I paid extra money for the 3 1/2 inch wall board. They told me they would come back the following week to fix the error, but when i CALLED THEM THEY WANTED to charge me $650.00, again they claimed it was for moving charges. I told them that my son did the moving and the contract clearly states that the moving of furniture was included. [continued below]....
We had carpet installed yesterday by national dloors direct. The in home estimate man was very nice and promised us the best price and told us all the old floor would be taken up and the carpet would be put down. When the two installers came my girlfriend was home by herself and sent me a message that she felt uncomfortable with them here. She sent me another message a little later and said the floors wouldnt be taken up, and they were carpeting over the old ones. This is not what we discussed with the in home estimate man. I called the national floors office and they said it must have been a miscommunication.
She also said that because there was a difference in the height of the floors (a half inch) that they should install transition strips. I called my girlfriend back and asked to speak with the installers myself, as they were giving her a hard time. I told them that I had just spoken with the office, and that I wanted to make sure that the strips were put in. He said okay. My girlfriend texted me yet again and said that they said they wouldnt install them after I got off the phone with them. At this point I left work early to come home to deal with this. As I arrived at the house, my front door was left wide open. I closed it on the way in. I tried to speak with the installer about the strips and he just nodded and agreed.
They finished putting in the carpet and we went to inspect. The strips were never installed. He said there wasnt much of a difference. However when you step on it, it feels like youre sinking. I went down stairs and my front door was propped open again. I asked them to keep .the door shut as there were hornets coming into the house and the AC unit was running. They got defensive at this point. They went back upstairs to finish vacuuming, and I had gone into the basement to finish laundry. And when I came upstairs, the door was opened up again.
I told them that they needed to treat our house with respect and they were extremely angry. Shortly after they left, I went to use the bathroom and I stepped in their urine. They urinated all over our bathroom... After I finished cleaning, I went down stairs and it was boiling hot. It was 90 degrees out yesterday, but we had both of our ACs running. We then noticed there was heat pouring out of our registers. They turned our heat up to 95 degrees before they left out of retaliation. They also marked up our stair case going to the upstairs which now needs to be painted
