Got a call from a salesman in Jersey. We talked about the color I wanted for the garage floor. I'll send you a color sample, I said. What is your email address. Oh, I don't know my email address. Maybe someone else can tell me the address. He gave me an address. No idea if it is good because when I sent the photo he said his computers were down for the rest of the day. But then he says, "I know the color you want." Good, what does my photo look like. He couldn't describe it.
Like the title says, I passed because it just didn't smell right.
In 2012 I contacted National Coatings and inquired about their pool paint that they were advertising. The salesman I spoke to assured me that the owner of the company that developed this great paint was a genius and the paint would wear like iron. He informed me that the paint weighed over 12 pounds per gallon. HE told me they had an over run of the white pool paint and that could make me a great deal and would pay half to shipping. I accepted his deal and he shipped the paint. He explained to me how to clean and prepare my pool before applying the coating. Power wash the pool with acid, then rinse, then power wash with TSP, then rinse and rinse and dry the pool out. We had several days of hot sun in the 80 and 90 degree temperature with no rain in the forecast for several days. The temperature was about 80 degrees and bright sun when we started painting. The smell was bad and had to wear dark glasses because of the glare.
Took about 3 hours to apply the paint on the pool. We knew that we did not have enough paint to apply the second coat so I called and talked to the salesman and he agreed to send me some more paint. It arrived in a few days. Still no rain so we got busy and applied the second coat. We waited several days for the paint to dry, it felt dry but the fumes were still coming off so we waited a few more days until the odor was gone. It looked great and when we filled the pool it was a beautiful light blue in color and the pool was nice and smooth. In the early fall we started seeing some white flakes in the net of our Polaris pool sweep. I called the salesman and he said to send him some pictures. I sent him pictures and samples of the paint flakes coming off the pool. When he finally got back to me he said lets wait until spring because it is starting to get cool and we would not be using the pool. In the next spring I called and the salesman was no longer employed and I was referred to another man. He wanted more pictures and samples. The pictures and amount of the paint flakes coming off were getting more all the time. Time went by and more talk all about how the pool was prepared and painted etc. Finally he agreed to send me more paint for half price and it that did not work he would refund my money. By now it is July and over July 4th week I had started draining the pools 20,000 gallons of water and then for three full days we blasted the pool with 4,000 psi pressure washer to get the paint all off the pool. What a job and what a mess. Again we went through the power washing with acid, rinse, power wash with TSP, rinse and rinse drain and dry for several days before painting. Again two coats of paint and wait until the fumes were gone before filling with water. Again in several months the white flakes started showing up in the pool sweep net. I called again and again was asked to sent pictures and samples. That was in the fall of 2013. I have got the same run around again in the spring of 2014 that I forgot about that send more pictures and samples. Then the run around really started to get bad. Who is calling, he is not in the office today, he has stepped away from his desk, and he is on the phone. One of the calls got through and he said let me get that file back out and here is my private number. Now for 30 or more call to the private number that is never answered and the messages are never returned or calling the main number it back to the not in the office, away from desk, and on the phone, I will have him call back. Do not due business with this company.
