I go into a job fair being held at the Napleton's Volkswagen of Orlando off of Colonial drive. I was the 1st-3rd person to be interviewed, as I showed up an hour after the place even opened.
The VP is interviewing me and I tell him that a previous employer didn't hire me for any specified reason, they just didn't call me back - which is fine, I guess. Can't really do anything about that.
He presumes to ask me if I have anything on my record - like tickets, etc. which is understandable. UNTIL he said in words "any domestic violence or anything like that" what the ****?
He then continued to tell me that myself and other candidates will be emailed for a pre employment drug screening and background check. I thought I scored the interview. It actually went pretty well, I hadn't thought ANYTHING at all of this situation when I left. I had also told one of my pre-dominantly hispanic but looks caucasian friend about the job as he is hunting too.
We live about 5 minutes from the dealer. Not even 20 minutes go by and he tells me that he starts Monday, Dec. 9. I am now infuriated and recalled everything that happened, to realize that I had been racially profiled.
To solidify my strong accusation, I went back to the dealership about 3 hours later. The same VP of the dealership is there, still giving interviews. I ask him if there was any specific reason as to why I wasn't hired on the spot, as aforementioned in the Indeed post online.
He proceeded to tell me that "this dealership doesn't hire on the spot" and "we hire the best of the best" and that "we have 200 applicants and I send them to the owner for them to be approved" when he himself hired my friend NOT EVEN 20 MINUTES after me. I am the ABSOLUTELY LAST person to be pulling the race card. But I am now pulling it, because not only was I obviously racially profiled, the VP lied and said that they weren't hiring on the spot.
Not to mention I have more work experience in car sales than my counterpart that now works for them starting Monday, who's only experience is in 1 restaurant. With no college degree, like myself.
I am infuriated. And I don't know how, and I don't know when, but I am going to get this noticed by anyone and everyone in the area to not buy from this racist dealership. I have never been treated this way ever in my life, and hopefully by saying something I can get this known to the world what is going on at these Volkswagen dealerships.

Considering taking this to court because I am 900% sure I will win. Not even for the compensation, but for the smudge that will forever be on this tainted dealership.
