Napleton's Northlake Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM Reviews
Feb 22, 2018
I brought my truck in for a wheel hub repair.
After declining an additional $2000 worth of "recommended" service which was unnecessary and overpriced, the truck was returned 6 days later with the parking brake handle broken and a custom audio system (hidden behind the seats) stolen with the wiring cut. No apology or attempt to help with filing a police report. Instead I was told "you signed a waiver".The service manager would not meet with me and I was not allowed to speak with the GM.
There was no sign of forced entry so either the truck was left unlocked or someone from the facility is responslble. Punishment for refusing the gravy service?
THESE GUYS ARE THE EPITOME OF WHY PEOPLE HATE CAR DEALERS!!
I purchased a new 2015 Dodge Durango from Napleton on Northlake and was lied to (by two different employees including the GM!) regarding the extended warranty that I purchased.
When completing the financing, I wanted the longest extended warranty available and asked the F&I guy if I was purchasing a Dodge FACTORY warranty - his response was "Absolutely". A few weeks later I was going through the paperwork and noticed the warranty appeared to be a THIRD PARTY 7 year 100K mile warranty and NOT a Dodge warranty as he told me it was. Lie #1.
I was extremely upset so I made a trip to the dealership and spoke with the acting General Manager, Mike Sclafani. I showed him the warranty paperwork and asked that he explain what I purchased. I then told him the F&I guy told me it was a Dodge FACTORY warranty and that his employee lied to my face.
This guy, Sclafani, proceeds to tell me that there is no such thing as a Dodge factory warranty UNLESS the vehicle is a used, certified vehicle...then Dodge warrantees it. According to him, if you buy a new vehicle (which I did) it is ALWAYS is warrantied through a third party warranty. This was Lie #2.
I Ieft feeling somewhat satisfied at that time that the "Acting General Manager" had "assured" me the warranty I purchase was the only type available...even though the F&I guy lied that it was a Dodge warranty.
The GM tried to "spin" his F&I guy's response by saying he misspoke...no he lied!! And come to find out later, so did the GM!!!
A few weeks later I receive mail directly from Dodge offering several different Dodge FACTORY warranty options!!!! What? How could that be? It was a new vehicle and not a certified, pre-owned which is, according to these Napleton employees...the only way I could buy a Dodge FACTORY warranty. What a bunch of B.S.! Ever wonder why car dealers have a reputation for being dishonest? WOW!
I called the number on the letter and spoke with a rep from DODGE warranty and explained to him what I was told by these two lying buffoons at Napleton. His comment was..."Wow, so they lied to you!"
Seems the truth is Dodge does in fact offer FACTORY warranties on NEW vehicles UP TO LIFETIME COVERAGE! The kicker is that a LIFETIME warranty was only a little more expensive than the 7yr/100K third party warranty they sold me!!
I also found out that some Dodge dealers ONLY use Dodge Factory warranties for their vehicles - not the third party ones.
So it must come down to these guys making more commission for hocking third party warranties. Do you want to do business with a dealership that will lie to you to make a few extra bucks and then have management back up their lie with more lies! Yeah, neither do I! Whatever you do avoid dealing with Napleton Northlake!!!
I'm still working through my options (legal and otherwise) and have contacted the State Attorney's Office Consumer Protection Division, the Better Business Bureau, local TV consumer watchdogs and Dodge corporate offices - and I'm not through yet. I will do everything I can to expose them for what they are...liars!! (aka, car dealers) and keep people from stepping foot on their lot.
I WILL get this resolved one way or another. This is just a warning for other hard working people that don't want to deal with a lying bunch of scum that are only looking out for their pockets.
Do yourselves a favor...stay far away from Napleton Northlake!!!!!!!!!!!
