I have been a loyal and dedicated worker for this company for well over 4 years now as a home health nurse, going to see in home patients. I am paid on a per visit basis. I have had issues in the past with payment that were usually resolved the same day. My work had slowed down to one patient whom i've been seeing daily for well over 8 years due to me having a regular full time job.
As my patient load decreased, so did my frequency of visits with this patient, down to once every two weeks. In the months of september, october, november i decided to not pick up those small checks so that i could combine them for my christmas shopping. I thought "well i did the work and turned in my paperwork for compensation, i'll just wait and pick those checks up for my christmas shopping".
To my suprise, in December, no checks were ever written and the owner told me that he only had recored of 1 check he owed me and that he wouldnt pay me until "sometime in the future". After going back and forth with various office workers, it was discovered that i was owed what i claimed i was owed. The owner still refused to pay me. I am also filing a complaint with the US Dept of Labor for my unpaid wages as the owner has refused to listen to me and resolve this issue.
