Mystery Gallery Rocks Reviews
Horrible, horrible, horrible service and really messed up Feng Shui, just like the entire State of Oregon. It bleeds - the messed up Feng Shui, and for a supplier or gemstones, crystals, essential oils, supplements, and the like, I had much higher expectations with regards to service and continuity or 'flow' of the store.
Prior to coming here, I gave a phone call. I do not have a fancy
phone, nor familiar with the area. I contemplated my mode of transit to the store (it does have a bus stop nearby, but is outside of the City center of Portland, and in a suburb). Well, the girl on the phone sounded very young, maybe high school. She was bubbly and talked so fast, I could not get clarification regarding directions. Good ole Google says Oak Grove, Ore. while the website says Milwaukie, Ore., yet a girl on the same page as the website noting Milwaukie, Ore. the shirt she is wearing indicates the location is in Oak Grove, Ore.
None of this was funny.
I asked the girl if there were, perhaps two locations? She said, "no, no, no, they're the same. Milwaukie is in Oak Grove. (???)." After that, she hung up on me and assumed I'd be fine. It was thoughtless to say the very least. Please don't make assumptions I am from the area, nor know the area, nor know anything about your store, or have a friend with me, etc. I simply desired to confirm the address, location, etc. so I wouldn't waste fuel or bus fare going to a non-existent place. I really don't think that's much to ask for, at all. Thank you.
(I'll skip how I *really* ended up finding the place, after some digging and clarification on the address - oy).
When I arrived, I read something on the door about no refunds or exchanges per the Chinese Government? Not sure if that's a joke, but a bad one. There were all sorts of tables and glass cases filled with everything from necklaces to earrings, to raw stones and crystals etc. The necklaces were hung on round abouts throughout the store, and some were sitting on perches on the glass cases. Most, if not all appeared to be handmade.
When I was in here, however, it was extremely difficult to browse/concentrate for a couple reasons:
-There were signs (see photos) noting "smile you are on camera" and other versions such as if you steal anything, their witches from the coven will put a spell on you? Um, okay? That's not very nice.
- I felt talked at, not talked to or listened to by a very young girl with long blonde curly hair, white skin who kept following me around the store. The girl was very hyperactive and I really feel drank too much coffee, or consumed too much sugar for it being late at night. Later, I learned her name is Mallory.
I'm the kind of person if I have a question I will ask. If not, please leave me alone. If someone approaches me slowly and genuinely, I may be quiet, and indicate I am shopping silently. Most people can read non verbal cues and leave you alone if you don't respond. At the very least, she could have said, "my name is Mallory, I'll be over here if you have any questions." And, then truly not come back, and let me approach her.
It's actually very insulting to try to be 'upsold' or to have a chaperone while shopping. I felt both at this store, and by this girl, Mallory. Mallory kept talking while I was thinking and I couldn't get my thoughts in order enough to decide what I desired, nor hold the item, look at the price with all her talking.
When I was browsing, she kept staring, and staring, and staring. Finally, to literally shut her up psychically, I asked her a question about something. It was superficial because I knew the answer to the question, and she was just showing me earrings. I was ready to yawn and walk out.
At a different point, I ended up by mistake selecting a necklace off a perch which was the incorrect necklace I desired. I was humiliated by Mallory and her aunt. When her aunt was packing up the necklace I inquired into if she had one that was "broken." The aunt said, "ittt's not broken." Well, I know that, it was a figure of speech.
When I noticed I had selected the incorrect necklace, I let it slide. It was so inexpensive that I just desired to purchase something and get out. But, Mallory couldn't keep quiet. She chimed in, when I wasn't even looking at her or talking with her, "I think she means raw." How utterly insulting from a very young "know it all" girl! Of course, I knew what I meant, but there were other people around, and well I just was about ready to leave and never go back.
Finally, I thought what the hell, I wont' buy the one I accidentally took off the rack, but I will inquire into something else. Mallory chimes in: "I think she really thought it (the necklace I accidentally chose), was xxxx (crystal). While I am not an expert on crystals and do not know every crystal out there, I did know both the one sought, and the incorrect one which I had picked. So, basically, Mallory said, "I think she thought it (the one I chose incorrectly), was (xxxx - the one I desired). Implying I intentionally picked X crystal thinking it was something else.
That right there got me to thinking: how do you know English is my first language or maybe I just use that word in replacement for raw? Maybe I felt cornered by your staff and rushed to buy something and made a purchase that wasn't what I desired, as to be polite. I knew I selected the incorrect necklace but was purchasing it to be polite.
At one point the crystal was switched and I ended up selecting one from a whole BAG of polished crystals - like hundreds. I felt weird about seeing an entiere bag of polished crystals, but in the store only a few of each necklace is put out (but you really have hundreds more in the back?). It seemes like a false sense of scarcity.
If you were an authentic, genuine store of Light, would you not desire I leave with the most authentically resonating pieces to my aura, which may take some time to energetically select? Which, in some customer cases would mean leaving with not one item?
Anywhoo, I paid. As I was there, in the midst of the final exit, Mallory kept talking about her highlights. Um, okay. Then some workers inquired about their work schedule and it was just too much talking/small talk, for real!.
But, had I not made a purchase, with all the suspect thief signs in Mystery Gallery, including one shaming sign of: "we'll send your photo to the 2,000 + people on our email list along with other similar stores in the area." and yet another saying they would "send you photo to the Clackamas County Sheriff's Department." I mean, who could relax here.
If you were true Energists, would you not know your generating negative energy by projecting and assuming? Fear is the opposite of love, and by inducing fear onto a person pre-entry, intentionally or unintentionally, you are driving him away. Your signs about theft are very juvenile and presumptuous, seeing the very worst in people as opposed to the positive and the Light.
While the prices here are reasonable, and the selection of items is alenty, there is much mindfulness which needs to be put into practice. If you are not careful, you may take that fear outside with you and it may lurk into your crystals.
Up to you, but beware!
