History: I'd belonged to a "Local" gym for decades, however in the last few years, it keeps changing Names & fees...the last couple names were Fitness 1,2,3 and then BLAST Fitness. When my original gym changed ownership, I complained that I hadnt been informed and didnt know how they could continue to Bill me through my Bank and charge an Annual Fee, when they were a different gym all together. However, since it was so cheap ($10/mo.) I went along. No one told me they would charge an additional $1 a month to automatically deduct my bank OR that there would be a $50 annual 'Renewal' charge either.
In 2015 I noticed that the name of the gym had changed, yet again, this time to BLAST Fitness. I've had some health issues this year and had been rarely able to utilize the gym, so in December, 2015 when "Renewal" time was coming along, I decided I was no longer interested in being a member. I closed my account where I was having automatic payments withdrawn and figured that would be the end of it - Not! Immediately in January, 2016 I received a Dunning notice from ABC Financial Services billing me Late/Service Fees of $29.00, so I wrote back to ABC on the bill, as it says to notify them if you dispute "CANCEL", that I had health issues and no longer wished to be a member. The next month, another bill, where I did the same thing and sent the bill back to ABC. It is now March and what would have been $30 to date is now a bill for $ 94.99!!! $ 65.99 for a "Contract Payment" (?) Never heard of it, $ 29.00 for Late Fees...iOn the bottom of the notice is has the usual, "Unless you notify this office....in writing....within 30 days (I did) No acknowledgement of my previous correspondence or Cancellation.
My beef is, I NEVER had a contract with BLAST anyhow. If I wanted to sign up with them, I would, but I cant do anything at the gym right now, physically so thats it. Because of how I'm being treated, even if I might want to renew my membership - I Wouldnt now, as I feel like I'm being Ripped Off by an impersonal collection company! I'm waiting for a copy of a Non-existant contract and am so pissed as no doubt they will try to ruin my credit for something I didnt sign up for and DONT WANT!
