In November 2017 I could not get rid of a banner or some kind of advertising saying I had a virus on my computer. I tried contacting Microsoft and somehow on 11/13/2017 I ended up with this company and the tech assured me they were Microsoft. They fixed my computer because alledgedly they said it had a malware. I paid around $200.00, they run some software and problem soved, (which I think it was them in the first place).
Today I got a call from them saying the company was going out of business and wanted to return my money. The person's Indian Accent was very heavy so I could not get his name, but the speech was that since they were not going to be able to fulfill their part of the warranty, they were obliged to return the money. I said OK and trusted them because they had fixed my computer before and I gave him access to my computer thru Team viewer. I asked why couldn't they send a check, he told me it had to be done thru their website to get to the return Dpt. form. So after a few screens I started to fill the form which was name, address, phone number. We got to the part where I was supposed to indicate one of the 3 forms of return. Western Union, Paypal or Chase. Here is when I really got suspicious. He said that Paypal had a policy that since they have a commercial account, they would not send money to anybody unless it was over $2,000.00...So, I had to deposit the difference of what I had paid them and 2,000 and when the transaccion was done, they would refund me the entire $2,000.00.
I said no way! this is a scam and you guys are trying to steel from me. We got into a little screeming back and forth and he got upset and told me he was going to block my computer. Immediately I shut it down and hangup. He called me 4 times laughing and telling me "ha, ha, ha, try using your computer Alex, ha, ha, ha" and the 4 times he said the same. I disconnected my internet and tried to turn on my computer again and I had a black screen.
I called 911 for help and they gave me another number and an officer came to my home. That did not go too well, since I did not deposit any money, there was no crime. Nice! I do have a case # though.
Tonight I opened my computer again and it worked but all of the sudden a screen appeared telling my that (can't remember the name because it flashed) was in control of my computer. Again I shut it off and on. This time I found a place to click on "EXIT". I hope that did it.
We called this company thinking it was the official Microsoft support help. It was not. They accessed our computer and ruined everything on it. Then we had to take it to a local professional for repair. We called and told them we wanted our $339 refunded on our credit card. We notified the credit card company immediately. Today they called and said we had to log in to get our credit. Unfortunately, we did. They then did a bogus Western Union charge to our credit card for almost 3k, hacked our cell phone and home phone lines and changed the settings on our phones so calls were forwarded to them and disabled our voice mail. We are fearful to turn on the computer until it is wiped clean again and we start installing every program again. Today we changed every password to every account we have. Be careful because the people are Indian and we should have been smarter.
Called the company and was having issues with PowerPoint. I was told that they are Microsoft at first then asked agan and they said they were affiliated with Microsoft. I asked if they were contracted with them and he wouldn't answer he kept saying the same thing. (this was after when I was on the phone with them). I didn't realize it at first they werent a coworker looked on line for Microsoft contact number and this came up. We called I told them my issue and they wanted to charge $99.95 and I needed this help right away for a deadline. The first guy said he needed access. Once he did he started to try to put their software for a help on my computer without permission and I said what are you doing and he said what he was doing and I said I didn't give you permission to do that! He said oh ok let me remove it. I said I need the technician and then he kept trying to sell me their services and I said I need to be transfered to a technician as you stated you would. Well when I got on the phone. I was on the phone for almost an hour and nothing got resolved. They said they would have to transfer me to another department. When I was on hold I had a co-worker hold the phone while I walked to deliver something to a VP. When I walked back they didn't disconnect with my computer and someone went into my DOS program on my computer. I kept trying to get control of my computer to disconnect them and the guy came on and he was denying someone was doing that!! I was struggling and finally able to fight them for my mouse and disconnected them and ran a virus scan!! HOW DARE THEY DO THAT!! I WOULD NEVER TRUST THEM ON ANY COMPUTER!! DO NOT USE THEM!! Nothing I called them for warranted them to go to my DOS program!!
I talked to a technician about a Windows 10 upgrade. He said he could help me if he could access my computer. He spent a lot of time in my computer. He told me that it was slow & that there were issues that needed to be corrected. He said it should be serviced every 2-3 months by a technician.
After spending about a half hour in my computer & then putting me on hold for 20 minutes, he came back on and wanted to sell me a 1 year warranty for about $250 or a 2 year warranty for about $350. I forget the exact amounts. When I said I would think about it, he offered me a 1 year warranty for $199.95. I told him I would think about that offer.
After we hung up, I got back on the computer & discovered practically all my files were deleted, along with my Thunderbird email account files. The only thing left was a copy of my 2014 tax return. The only explanations for these deletions was that the myPhoneSupport technician had deleted them. I think he did it to make me pay myPhoneSupport to have those files restored.
I called myPhoneSupport again and talked with a technician. He denied that one of their technicians would ever do such a thing. He then offered to have someone attempt to retrieve the files and said this might not be possible if they were permanently deleted. He told me that I would have to pay for this attampt, which would cost something over $100 for a one time fix, & he also offered the warranty plans and prices.
I said that I should not have to pay to correct something that their technician did. The conclusion is that I lost my files & Thunderbird accourt due to a dishonest technician. He may have been acting on his own to work a scaam or the whole company is a scam. All I know is that I have been scammed of my files.
