I extend working capital to small businesses as a purchase and sale of future receivables at a discount for cash up front.
I had a client with a large existing balance who was in default with a large balance. I reached out to them to see if we could get things on track. I was then contacted by Michael Kurzyna, who claimed to be representing my client (he is not a lawyer or any sort of licensed financial advisor), and claimed that the client sold their business. He also had some other gentleman then reach out to me days later to claim to be the new owner who just purchased the business. However, they could not even produce a purchase and sale agreement to prove this to be the case.
Michael assured me the new client was going to repay as per the obligations of the business he purchased. Over a week later, they sent a completely fraudulent purchase agreement. We also found a slew of checks written to Michael by client who supposedly sold the business.
Coincidentally, Michael and this client whose name will be left out of this, live very close to each other in the same town and Michael once called me 8-9 months ago pretending to be this client, not realizing I had spoken to the client on multiple occasions and instantly recognized he was not the actual client calling in.
In short, Michael devised an elaborate scheme to defraud us of $80,000.00+ - and while claiming that all would be repaid, has completely disappeared and fallen off the radar since.
The website they claim to be theirs as per his business card - www.multicommerciallending.com - is not even a registered domain/has no website, and he contacted me from another email address - [email protected] not the email address advertised on his business card that i found when i searched for his name and company on google.
And even though he reached out to me, because my email went to his spam, he tried to claim that he did not believe who i was, all in an attempt to further stall and delay, when he was the one committing fraud.
Based on the name of their company, one might assume they are some sort of commercial lender, right? The business card says - We Aim to Lend! But what do they even lend? All they did was assist someone in defrauding us. And we can see that they got paid to do so by the checks written to him! Anything you can find searching for this supposed business online says they are closed, they have a disconnected phone #, and if you search the address on their business card, google maps shows it is a private residence.
I have never met this gentleman, but since the day he reached out to inform me of what was going on and that he was going to ensure all of the business obligations were handled "under the new ownership," nothing of the sort has happened. I have tried to call, email, and text, but have had no luck getting in touch and have not heard back.
While he claims to "service all of your business financing needs," it seems this company is a non-existant sham that only helps their friends defraud other companies and try to assist in skirting out from their obligatoins for what looks like a portion of the borrowed funds that are owed/have no intent on being repaid by either Michael, or his friends whom he assists.
Everything he has claimed has turned out to be fraudulent. And there has been no attempt of repayment since. I wonder if there is any sort of legal recourse for these actions of his.
