Mr. Rooter Reviews

Supposed tech took one look at tankless water hear and said "It will cost more to fix than it is worth so I can sell you a new one for only $3000.00".

Called my 81 year old father who cleaned cobwebs off with broom and blew out area where overheat sensor is mounted. then he recycled control valve, lit pilot with unit mounted igniter, and then turned on hot water faucet in adjacent laundry tub.

Guess what??? It works fine. saved $3000.00 and you can too by not calling this outfit.

Judging by all the complaints, that are similar to mine, how does this company stay in business, or better yet, out of jail?

Two guys wearing nice, red, Mr. Rooter polo shirts and khakis came to my residence to fix a loose pipe. The pipe was a large one underneath my mobile home. I heard what sounded like a grinder, as if they were making repairs. After the so-called fix, they came to my door for an astronomical payment of over $300. They looked as neat and clean as when they arrived. There wasn't a speck of dirt on them from supposedly having worked underneath my home. Then they wanted to sell me a plan which involved regular checks on my plumbing. I refused. Then they quoted me over $200 for replacing a heating element in my water heater. I refused and sent them packing. Needless to say, the pipe 'fix' was temporary. In my opinion, they just rigged the pipe in some fashion long enough to collect their money. Eventually, the pipe dislodged again but by then I had bought a new home.

I called an acquaintance to work on the old place's water heater. He charged me $60 including parts. He told me that Mr. Rooter works on commission. People call them once but never again. He said that one customer was charged over $200 for replacing the gasket in a dripping faucet.

Whatever you've read about this company is absolutely true. From what I've read, they appear to run their scam nationwide. They are notorious for preying upon Senior Citizens like myself - but I only get burnt once.
