Moving Mania INC Reviews

  • Dec 31, 2018

There are fake reviews that this company pays for. Every single bad review is exactly what you will get. Allow me to elaborate... We ended up chancing this company as they gave us the lowest price in the initial overview stage. We provided exact measurements and box counts and they gave us a clear estimate. Upon arrival of the movers, they showed up in a RENTED enterprise truck. Then, they proceeded to tell us that we had more than they initially quoted us for (a lie as we gave them all measurements of everything as a whole) and told us it was going to cost DOUBLE what they first quoted. Uhm, no. we agreed to pay a slight increase and settled on that. We were then told it would be about 7-10 days until they reached our new house in CO. It took 3 MONTHS! Not only did it take three months, but the dispatcher refused to give us an exact date up until the day before they arrived. Also, they pushed the arrival time back from "early in the morning" to "9:30pm" on a weekday that we had to be up early for work the morning following. Once the movers had finally gotten to us and unloaded our things. Everything was broken. And I mean EVERYTHING, despite a guitar that they packed without being told to do so. Our dressers were destroyed, tv's broken. There is not a single reason for me to recommend this company. They buy FAKE reviews and scam good people. They broke contract on many fronts and we are currently in a lawsuit to sue them. STAY AWAY! Trust me, I made the mistake of believing the fake reviews, do not be like me!

Don't make the same mistake we did. They made this a horrible nightmare. Not only did they raise the rate after they were given measurements of all our items. When they picked up and dropped off our items they were in a rented truck. They were late for both pick up and drop off. Thats just the start of how unprofessional this "company" is. They lied about the estimate of arrival by month's and I was living out of a back pack for over two months. When you try and call and email you will get told you will get a call or email back and they won't. Each employee we spoke with was beyond unprofessional, disrespectful and could not even tell us a estimate of when our stuff was going to arrive until the day before. Not only did they make this the most stressful move I have ever experienced. When they finally did arrive everything was damaged and broken. All the boxes marked fragile were completely smashed and destroyed. The furniture was either destroyed or missing pieces. They even had the decency to throw some of our items away probably due to damage or were stolen before they arrived. All of the boxes looked as if they were just thrown across the truck. Every single box was either crushed in or broken. They do not care about your belongings or customer service. Don't waste your time money you are better off finding a stranger on the street to do a better job. This company should be shut down. The employee's should be ashamed of how they treat people. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! Do not fall for the fake review's like we did you will regret it. I have never been so devastated and stressed. This company caused me so much anxiety and pain do not let this happen to you!!!!

Not a good choice when it comes to moving your prized possessions. These guys are horribly unprofessional and the exactly opposite of punctual. The original pick-up date established was moved 3 times without us having a say in it whatsoever, they don't care about your schedule. When it comes to drop off, they were MONTHS behind schedule... that's right, MONTHS! I hope your dont need your stuff, because if its with these guys, you will not get it for a very long time. Not only did they keep our stuff for 60 days longer than intended, almost everything that could be broken was broken on arrival. Furniture that they disassembled was missing half of the hardware and could not be reassembled (aside from one chair...yay....). I can't believe how stupid we were to trust a company that sends people to pick up my stuff in a RENTED TRUCK! Seriously? I could have rented a U-HAUL and loaded it myself. I didn't need some questionable and rude meth addict looking drunk men to do it for me, especially if I knew they were just going to crush all of my boxes that clearly said "fragile" on every side. Pick a moving company that actually hires people who can read, not these illiterates with no punctuality whatsoever. Not to mention, they tried to raise the quote on us at the time of arrival, of course when we put them in their place, they offered a refund on these newly added fees. Snake oil salesmen is what these guys are.

I always try to leave positive reviews to offset negative ones, but unfortunately this time I cannot.

Long story short, the salesman tricked me into thinking he was the driver and was trustworthy with his price- turns out they hire 3rd party drivers and it ended up costing 150% more than the original quote.

-THEN-

When they made the move from Orlando, FL to Memphis, TN, one box was crushed with a nightstand and a lamp and they lost my $200 headboard,

Lorraine in customer service at first was nice and seemed like she was going to help, then stopped replying to my emails for months. It’s been 6 months and I’ve had no reconciliation.

Just stick with a professional mover. This company is trash.

Our whole Moving Mania experience was just horrible. We were quoted one rate, but ended up paying double due a few extra cubic feet. Who knew a few tubs and boxes would cost just as much as a whole load.

Then the pickup crew arrived an hour late. Totally unprofessional.

The MM staff was completely rude and argumentative.

We couldn't get a straight answer for our delivery date. It was constantly changing.

We finally received our items from Moving Mania—several streets away as they would NOT deliver to our door. According to their very rude customer service people, they conveniently made it our problem for delivery due to the fact their moving truck was so large.

That wasn’t our problem.

But they made it our problem.

They wanted to charge us an extra $400 so they could rent a smaller truck. We didn't agree to their terms. We ended up renting our own truck for $40 and did the exchange while blocking traffic. In the end, MM did not deliver our items to our door or place them in our desired room upon delivery as per the contract—something they LOVE to refer to.

Another problem we encountered was some of our items were broken.

So much for MM's supposed “safe” moving practices. Don't trust this ripoff company. They will empty your bank account, destroy your stuff as well as your nerves.

PLEASE DO NOT GET TRICKED AND ROBBED BY THIS COMPANY THE WAY I WAS!! THEY WAIT UNTIL THEY HAVE YOUR BELONGINGS AND THEN RAISE THE PRICE FROM YOUR CONTRACT BY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS.PHYLLIS, JEFF AND BOB ARE LITERALLY THIEVES. I rarely write reviews, but never want to see a family lose their personal belongings- including sentimental items such as ashes of deceased family members- the way I did. They will claim the quote they gave you was incorrect, but I sent them the size of my storage unit along with pictures and even a VIDEO to show what the inventory was. They picked up my items, said NOTHING to me and did not contact me at that time, took $500 cash to load items on truck, and then DAYS LATER called to tell me it was more than they anticipated and that they would not deliver my belongings unless I paid an addition $4,500!! Not $400, but over 4 THOUSAND DOLLARS. Obviously the person quoting the move was in on this scam and they wait until they have possession of your belongings before telling you that they need more money. I called them in tears telling them I have my mother's medication on that truck and my deceased father's ashes, along with everything I own, and they refused to work it out with me unless I paid $4,500 MORE than my signed contract. I was warned about moving companies, and I am usually not naive about these types of matters, but I trusted the man I spoke with and even told him about my concerns. He said that "unless I had a piano I failed to mention...the price would not change". Yet it "changed" by over 4 grand.

Please do not be subject to this kind of thievery and no matter what mover you go with, make sure you have a solid contract. I do have a signed contract by then quoting the original price of $1200.00 - as opposed to over $5,000.00 which they are now demanding to deliver my items, and I have gone to attorney. I Would rather spend years paying off $5,000 to an attorney to make sure this never happens to anyone else as opposed to letting them rob me of $5,000 and continue to run this "Bait and Switch" scam on other victims. It makes me sad that people are willing to do this to others and hold hostage every single belonging of another human being. It is sad and dishonest and what they are doing is illegal. In my opinion people like this should be in jail.

Again, I almost never write reviews unless they are positive reviews, but I don't want to see someone else get scammed by Phyllis, Bob, and the other crooks at "Moving Mania" (I have also been informed by a family member in law enforcement that they change the name of their company often) so please do a BBB check on any mover you hire. After doing more research, I have found they have done this same scam ot hundreds of people.

I was planning a move from Fort Lauderdale to Atlanta and given an estimate of $950, a person named Nicky called me the day before they came to pick up my stuff and told me I had to pay an additional $38 for packing materials. When the movers show up they showed me an invoice I had never seen or agreed to with a price mark up of over $200 and it didn't say what the additional charges were for, the movers came and charged me again for packing materials which brought my bill up to $1608 for $950 that I was originally quoted. I called the company to see why I was over charged and this Nicky person was extremely rude and just said it didn't matter cause I already agreed to it and they refused to even hear me out. When my stuff got to Atlanta a lot of my stuff was damaged and even though the mover took everything apart they refused to put my things back together which was supposed to be part of the service and I was stuck with all this damaged unbuild furniture. This was the worst moving experience of my life! Do not use these people its a scam!

I want to warn consumers abut this company and their deceptive sales tactics. Low-ball estimates to get jobs and their practice of increasing the estimated price once they arrive and leaving the customer in a position of choosing to pay the higher amount or not getting their items moved. Epitome of con artists.

What a scam!!!!!

Bait and switch

Use extreme caution when dealing with this company. Moving Mania is a carrier but only by legal definition. Most every job is brokered out and you will definately have headaches dealing with this company. Expect to be lured in with a low price. The salemen are instructed to under estimate the jobs, for example... "overlook a table or don't ask them if there are headboards or footbords. Don't mention stairs, elevators, bulky charges or things like that, that is the foremans job." I know that clients were promised straight delivery and not to see there items again for over a month, and with damages at that. I can recall one customer that had over $10,000 in damages. They do not thoroughly screen their workers. They do use day labor. They do not do drug screening or background checks. Do your homework people. The reviews are fake. This company is a small fish in a really big pond. Pay the few extra bucks and go with a company not ran and operated by con men. They only have one truck and a horrible saftey rating.
