Motif Investment quietly restructured their fees and buried the announcement about the new fees deep into their FAQ, a place that a 2-year customer with no apparent questions would not naturally browse in their spare time. When the charge was discovered, and in an attempt to obtain more information, I had not one, but TWO ignored customer service contact attempts ignored (email and text). When I finally decided to call and wait out the 20-minute hold period, I was met with a very smug customer service representative who informed me that they were unwilling to refund the fee, despite them not making very visible on the app and fee, and on top of that informed me if I had to assess whether "Motif Investing was the right platform for me". On top of that, in order to get out and disassociate myself with Motif, I had to sell my portfolio - an additional fee that was also now on me. So, on top of being charged a non-refundable fee instated less than 30 days ago for not having enough trades (I didn't want to change my portfolio or buy additional stocks) or not having a $10,000 balance on my Motif account, I was smugly told that I must now pay an additional fee to rid myself of the membership in this poor platform. Here's to hoping I can actually recover the value of my portfolio, as the design or both the web application and the mobile application makes it very difficult to nagivate your way into withdrawing funds. I would highly recommend an interested party consider other options for their trading needs.
