I received a catalog in the mail for pre-approved credit line of up to $400 from Montgomery Wards. Well it's been years since I've seen a Montgomery Wards store anywhere and remember shopping there, decent quality merchandise etc. . Well that may have been the case 25 years ago but I'm telling you not to buy anything from them. The quality of the stuff they sell is beyond substandard. . I bought a queen size comforter set, the bed skirt arrived already falling apart - literally. There were loose threads every where and when I pulled on them the comforter began to come apart - literally. . Lucky for me I had a neighbor who had a sewing machine and tried to patch it up for me. I should have returned it immediately but working mandatory overtime kinda put that on permanent hold. I ended up just trashing the whole cheap, crappy set. I now have a black mark on my credit report for $546. YES $546.00+ for bedding that wasn't worth $19.95 Absolutely my fault for not returning it right away and having the charge removed but I thought I would put this in writing so that no one else will make the same mistake I did. Do not buy their third world, sweat shop garbage.
I was ordering an item for $49.99 for which there was a processing fee of over $40. There was also another fee to ensure that the product was not damaged. Needkess to say, I did not complete the order.
Approximately six to seven months ago my Mother, who is 85 years old, opened an account with Montgomery Wards. We set the account up on automatic payment and thought everything was good. Each month we received her statement showing that her payment was made and we thought she was good to go. Boy were we wrong.
The first time we found out that there was an issue with the account occurred in late November when we went on to the web site to order a gift for Christmas and discovered that she had a payment reversed on her account. Immediately we called Wards and got some individual from India who barely spoke English. When asked to verify her information for auto pay the individual gave the correct information to us. When we asked why the payment was reversed he stated to us that there was not reason given, that perhaps it was on her banks end. At this point I told him that if the bank had rejected her payment they would have sent her a notification via text and mail and charged her $35 for NSF, but that I would call the bank to see if there was an issue. I told him I would call back within the hour.
We called her bank and was told that no payment from Wards was returned to the company and that there was no payment submitted to them for payment. I called Wards again and got another person from India and asked if I could speak to someone stateside which I was told that there was no one. I hung up the phone and called again and got another person. This time the person informed me that there was no reason given as to why the payment was not going through but that my Mom needed to pay $50 to bring the account current. I explained to the individual that we had received no letter from either Wards or my Moms bank about any payments, to which I was told I was lying because they had sent two letters out. I asked them to verify the mailing address on file and I was told they did not have to verify it, I had to verify it, to which I replied to the individual that since the issue with the payment seemed to be on their end I would mail out a payment. I was rudely informed that Wards did not have a problem with processing automatic payments, to which I replied apparently you do and hung up.
My Mom made the decision to take the account off auto pay and once again I placed a call to inform Wards but was on hold for so long that I just hung up and decided to wait until the first of February. On February 9, 2018 my Mom received a nasty letter from Wards stating that if she did not pay her account she would not be able to purchase a car, obtain a loan, purchase a house or lease a house. This letter was signed by an individual named Jack. The letter was dated Febuary 2, 2018.
A payment had been sent in and was put through the bank on February 23, 2018. On Febuary 28, 2018 my Mom recieved another letter from a Wendy Pickette and a Don Petta stating to please call and talk to them to discuss her account. Now mind you they just cashed a payment from her on February 23, 2018. Another call was placed to Wards and we were put on hold for 45 minutes when a female from India who said her name was Carolina finally answered the phone and when it was explained to her that we received a letter from Wendy Pickette, she placed us back on hold for another 20 minutes so I just hung up. I went into my Moms account and saw the amount she was to pay to bring her account current, printed the page out twice, sent a payment for the amount, copied the letter from Wendy Pickette and Don Petta to include in the payment and told them that it was ridiculous to be on hold for over an hour and 20 minutes and no one picks up the phone.
On March 9, 2018 my Mom recieved another letter from Wards, this time with two giant thumbs, one point up and one pointing down, giving her the option to either pay or be sent to a collection agency. The letter said she is past due. Today March 12, 2018 I checked my Moms bank account and the payment we sent in to Wards has been cashed, yet Wards is still trying to collect money on an account that is current.
Do not do business with this company. They do not take responsiblilty for their errors, they do not have employees that work with you, and believe me when I say that for a customer to be placed on hold for more than 10 minutes tells me that their employees are messing around in the call center.
I know it is illegal for collection agencies to threaten you with certain things but I did not realize that companies can threaten you. What a RIP OFF this company is.
I order some christmas stuff on 11/28/17 i applied for credit to pay for the items they are processoing my order they will deny my credit. companies like this needs to be put out of business. they are full of shady crooks and liars. they need to send my items i have order. they will never do it they don't comply with the law or the merchandise rule put out by the ftc they want a downpayment. is that illegal when they give a account number.
I order two items from the and returned them, now they are sending me a bill for $71.70. They are saying it's for returning the items. I paid for one of the returns.
