This company's site is fraudulent. On 12/22/15 my lady friend and I went into a local Jo-Ann's fabric store and wanted to see if they had any coupons on their site. I went to joanns.com and immediately saw a pop up that stated if I completed a survey on Jo-Ann's stores I could get a free item worth $89.
We completed the survey and were given a choice between products and chose an anti-wrinkle cream. The whole time we were made to believe we were being directed by Jo-Ann's so I went ahead and entered my Visa# (I know! I know!) and information to cover the $4.95 shipping charge for a 14 day trial.
When I got to the confirmation page, I read the terms which stated that they would send a refill of the anti-wrinkle cream monthly for $89. I DID NOT click the confirm button! Instead, there was a link below it that said something to the effect that you could cancel the order as I changed my mind.
On 1/4/16 I received an email from Montecito Skin Care support saying they were confirming my order for $99.95. I telephoned them at 877-375-9028 to ask why they are billing me when just today I received their order. The man stated that the 14 days had passed from the date of ordering. I disputed that being I just received it and had no opportunity to do the trial, on top of the fact that I never confirmed the order in the first place. He said he would cancel my repeat orders and gave me a return# and return address if I wanted to get a full refund.
I told him I should not have to pay for the $4.95 shipping nor the return shipping being that I never confirmed the order. He said I'd have to pay for it anyway. I would have refused the shipment in the first place IF it said Joanns.com or Montecito Skin Care on it, but they are such scammers that they had it sent from yet another name, Rapid Fulfillment Inc. of Pacoima, CA so I had thought it was something else I ordered from Amazon stores. Now I "have to" pay to ship it back with tracking!
They did try to offer a 50% discount, but knowing they defrauded me disgusts me, so I want NOTHING to do with them. I can't believe there aren't more complaints on joanns.com. I emailed Jo-Ann's Fabrics via their real site at joann.com to complain as well though they are apparently not affiliated at all.
Interestingly, joanns.com shows you the survey pop up the first time you go to their page. Try it a second, third or more times and you'll see they change the page you go to every time you try to go back in to check the cancelation link and terms. It seems they monitor your IP address to be sure you aren't able to prove their fraud.
Also, if you go to www.montecitoskincare.com and click on their Customer Service link, then the "Easy Cancel" button, you will see it goes to a blank page with the text "We are sorry! The link you clicked on to reach this page was misconfigured." How convenient!
SUMMARY:
Joanns.com is NOT related to Jo-Ann's Fabrics (they have joann.com). Joanns.com links you to many optional "free" trials that turn into subscriptions BUT joanns.com will block you from that survey option on your future visits, apparently based on your IP address.
Montecito Skin Care tricks you into clicking the link not to confirm your order when you see their monthly terms, yet STILL sends the order and enrolls you into their subscription program at more than they originally advertised.
Rapid Fulfillment Inc is the return address on the package. Their address is ***** ****** **., *******,** *****
Montecito is false advertising their eye serum and facial cream and charging $99.00 for the product. When charged the $99.00 I called and cancelled my prescription and returned the product by mail and they gave me a cancellation number but never gave my my money back. This is a complete scam.
After seeing an advertisment online for a free sample of Montecito Skin Care- just pay $4.99 for shipping and handling, I ordered the sample. Immediately, I was charged $5.99. I did receive one small bottle of Montecito Skin Care.
Everything was all good until a month later when I saw a charge of $139.99 on my credit card statement. I immediately tried calling Montecito Skin CAre company. The number that I had for the company was disconnected. I filed a report with the BBB and disputed the charge on my credit card. To date Montecito has not contacted the BBB. Montecito sent my credit card company my invoice and Montecito's INternet site pages. I had not saw those particular Internet pages before my credit card company had them. I lost the dispute, and I have to pay $139.99. This was an expensive lesson to learn.
Scammers. I received an email stating I won anti wrinkle cream and eye cream. I would only have to pay $4.95 for shipping. I got the products and also 8 charges ranging from $1.99 up to $139.99. Well over $200.00. I called my credit card company they recorded the call and am returning the products. Will find out soon enough if they refund my charges or not. They say they are in Utah.
Montecito Skin Care, 530 W. Los Angeles Ave., #115-157, Moorpark, Ca. 93021 had an ad about a free trial for skin and eye care products that is very misleading, even after reading their Terms & Conditions. I filled out the form for their products and the ad said I would pay only Shipping & Handling fees and the ad also said the products have a 30 day money back guarantee. I day after I received the first shipment of the Skin Care product my bank account was charged $139.95. this is, according to the fine print in their Terms & Conditions, the price of the product you will be charged after the product is shipped. The misleading part of this company's practices and their ad is, you are signing up for a 14 day free trial of their product, but not a "subscription" for their product(s). The price of the Anti-Aging Skin Cream is $139.95 and they say, after calling them, that the "suggested" usage is for 30 days. Nowhere on the bottles of skin cream are there instructions for use, nor is there any "suggested" methods or time that the product(s) lasts. This company's advertising for their products and their "free trials" is extremely misleading to the average consumer and borders on Elder Abuse and Identity Theft. I've spoken to two representatives of the company and they barely speak understandable English. I had to have them repeat themselves over and over and could hear others speaking loudly in the background - definately a "call center" environment. I am 66 yrs. old and a Disabled American Veteran and am seriously disappointed in this compan's approach to marketing.
While surfing Facebook I came across an ad for skin care. I entered my information, and even my credit card number, but changed my mind. I never clicked purchase, but removed all my personal information, including my credit card information, and backed completely out of the order. The next morning I had six charges on my bank account, three for products, and three for shipping.
Since I had not willingly purchased the items, I was not aware that this company was setting me up on an automatic reorder. This past Monday I awoke to find a charge for $89.95, and $139.99. To add insult to injury it was the day before payday, so I also incurred two NSF charges.
I wish I had used an actual credit card, but, unfortunately, it was my debit card, and getting the bank to reverse the nearly $300. worth of unauthroized charges has not been easy. What's more, the bank informed me that the company had set up the account to charge me this amount EVERY month!
I have been searching for a way to contact this company, but have not yet been successful. If you see Montecito Skin Care run the other way!
I ordered free samples of Montecito Skin Care, agreeing to pay the shipping. I used my debit card. I was then charged $1.99 twice, once for each item ordered. That was out of Nevada and was perfectly fine. However, I was also charged $4.99 from a site in California. Now, I am being charged $1.99 twice, again, on my debit card. I am going to have to change my card.
Montecito skin care is a rip off. You buy the sample 4.99 and no where does it say anything about the cost of shipping and handling. They charge you 4.99 shipping and handling. I called them and complained and cancelled any future orders.
Next, less than 2 weeks later a charge of 99.95 shows up on my account and i call them to complain and demand my money back and he stated that they couldn't do that. They would send me a envelope for return and then they would credit my account. No monies appeared in my account.
Beware this "company". They will royally screw you out of money!!
Do not purchase anything from them!!
The posting time indicated is arizona local time. Arizona does not observe daylight savings so the post time may be mountain or pacific depending on the time of year.
I came across this product from Doctor OZ. It said free trial size eye serum. It was very decieving. The next thing I knew I had a hundred dollars withdrawn from my bank account.
I called them to dispute the order because the only thing I assumed I was getting was a free trial size. They would not listen to me. They would not give me my money back.
I told them I was returning the free trial size item in which I did. I explained I cannot afford for them to just with draw mony from my account. They didn't even confirm an order or ask me if I wanted it.
They are rip offs I want to see charges braught against them. They would not give me any information on who to contact to file a formal complaint. I am so upset I don't even know what to think of this whole experinace. I have never had anything like this happen.
