Monster X Camp Reviews

This Fitness Facility/Gym/Martial Arts Studio is a Classic Rip-Off.

They sold me an membership and started recurring charges without ever allowing me to get an orientation. The orientation is required because it was for an assessment of capabilities and introduction to the Krav Maga classes, and I was also supposed to purchase some special "uniform" for the class at that time.

After weeks of trying to get an answer by phone, e-mail or in person on when that could happen, they finally scheduled one, and when I showed up for it, NOBODY was there to conduct it. I got some better contact information from the girl at the front desk, but she couldn't explain too much except that the e-mails I had been getting were coming from an assistant in CHINA, and the phone number on the website which was disconnected had been changed to something else. She was apologetic but could offer me NO SOLUTION and said the instructor had simply walked off the job and cancelled the orientation with no notice. Supposedly 14 other people were also affected. I chased around people again for a while and FINALLY got a rude response from COACH LARRY CLAY, who advised me against having a bad attitude or judging his business or I would receive NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT and DEFINITELY wouldn't get a refund.

However, after I gave him the run-down on what happened he SEEMED to change his tune and was apologetic and blamed everything on someone else, and seemed sincere. I told him that I wanted to cancel and wanted a full refund, but I let him talk me in to TRYING it first, and during that call he advised me that I'd be refunded the charges that had already occurred ($158) and wouldn't be charged until the orientation could happen and I could start classes. He even said he'd provide some personal training instruction Well, before I could even get to the next week's orientation, they charged me again. I later figured out that the original set of e-mails had been directed to him all along and the apologies he was making for other people were stuff HE HIMSELF hadn't responded to.

I have filed a complaint and refund request from PayPal but they didn't use a credit card, just a reduction from my balance, so I don't know how that will go. I have also received an e-mail stating that the business is OUT OF BUSINESS and somebody new has taken over. However, further investigation reveals to me that it is still the same coach and the same owner, just a new name, with a slightly different twist on it. Previously it was Reaction Self Defense, LLC. Now they are going by Reaction Fitness & Self Defense. They have NOT responded after 10 days of filing the complaint and demand for a refund, so I am pretty certain I'm going to have to sue this man, who apparently at 6'8" and over 300 pounds takes great pride in intimidating people and demeaning them, at least from what I can see from other complaintants.

The only way I know they cannot charge me any more, because they haven't done anything to stop it is that I removed ALL the credit cards and bank account information from my PayPal account, and cancelled the automatic payment myself through PayPal, and withdrew any funds that they might get if those first two things failed, and I had to do all of this because they didn't keep their word to REFUND me and to NOT MAKE ANY MORE WITHDRAWALS. I have also more than once requested that this be cancelled in WRITING, but I never get a response to that from them.

My advice is simple. Stay away. There are plenty of other options without the cloud of SCAM, RIPOFF, FRAUD, THEFT, hanging over their heads.
