Monitronics International, Inc. Reviews

  • Jun 18, 2019

I discontinued my service on December 10,2018, after three years of service. They never notified me of the Brinks take over, except by bill I received. My contract I thought was for three years, but found out it was for five. I agreed to pay the sum of $568.32 to conclude the five year agreement.

I informed them I would not pay additional fees, since I was not receiving any services. They continue sending me bills including fees for cost recovery, taxes, paper statement fee and another tax. These additional fees is I feel I should not pay, scince there has been no service provided from December, 2018 until now.

To Whom It May Concern,

I signed up with a security company named Monitronics affiliated with RG Secure Homes. I repeatedly requested with Monitronics to send someone out to test the Sensors for my Security System since February of 2017. I learned, The request for a Home Visit is refered to as a Work Order. Every request for a Work Order since February of 2017 was dismissed or unfulfilled. In August of 2017, I had just about enough of the unprofessional conduct and attitude stemming from the Telephone Receptionists who receive the calls who listen to the needs of Monitronic Customers... After having been disrespected for the last time in August of 2017 by a Receptionist who had a professionally combative attitude. I called back to cancel service. Of course, there was no compliance of discontinueing of Poor Service and Furthermore there was no accurate history of the many calls made of requested Work Orders.

So, after long thought. I called to take my checking account from being directly debited monthly, with this company, in the amount of $65.20, which I had payed on time since the beginning of Service and Contractual Agreement.

I requested to cancel service on November 1, 2017 with a Jason Premph who also gave me the run around and spoke further of committing to a better service after all that had been said and done.

I then made another attempt to cancel service due to said issues of their Non-Compliance to fulfill requested Work Orders. And disrespectful Agents / Receptionists answering phones.

The last attempt made to cancel service was on December 20, 2017. I spoke to a Mark Tee in the Retention Department who continued to gloss over my concerns and made statements of my 5 Year Contractual Agreement and that to "Successfully Terminate" said Agreement that I would have to "Pay Off an Amount of $2,573.00...

Once again, Mark Tee had all information pertaining to the last couple communications with Monitronics in the form of notes... (ie. August 2017 and November 1, 2017) I quickly made note to Mark Tee in the Retention Department which I found it odd that there was no further documentation of all said prior calls from February 2017 requesting Work Orders for Servicing Sensors in my house which showed to be faulty on my end.

Yet the bottom line of bullying my active participation as a Consumer with this wayward company goes as follows: They don't want to meet their side of fulfilling said contractual agreement with compliance of seeing Work Orders through, but the company has no problem sending me e-mails reminding me of recent late payment due, since taking my checking account off of direct debit. And if I don't continue to pay for this unprofessional service then I will be faced with a Collection Agency... So, there is where the bullying starts and stops.

I am no longer interested in giving a company my hard earned funds when they have repeatedly failed to comply with the simplest of requests. And furthermore, Monitronics has also shown me by recent correspondences that they cannot keep accurate accounts of all said communications between them and myself.

Thank you for your professional consideration to this very important matter.

We had used Monitronics for several years as our home security service. In September 2016 we decided to replace them with ADT. ADT installed their system in September 2016 and removed Monitronics system We had authorized first Monitronics and then ADT to bill monthly charges through Mastercard. Late in 2016 I noticed that Mastercard was still charging us for Monitronics. The four monthly charges in late 2016 through 1-28-17 totalled $188.02 after we had cancelled their service. In a long unsatisfactory discussion among me, Mastercard, and Monitronics (Credit Dept.?), Monitronics told me they were not going to refund these charges for services they did not provide. Monitronics informed me that they had received a "fraudulent" letter from ADT saying ADT had replaced Monitronics. How they were able to determine the letter (in spite of being correct) was fraudulent is incomprehensible to me. We want our money back.

Rob Dickson and Terry Sifuentes from Lubbock, Tx pulled my credit without my knowledge or authorization on December 21st 2016. They were trying to get me to purchase alarm monitoring and I told them I was going to think about it. I decided to go with someone else since I felt that anyone representing a professional company that would drink a beer while trying to sell me service during business hours seemed shady as it is. After doing research locally I found out that both of these guys are scamming people and pulling credit without authorization, changing pricing after the sale, and installing used equipment off of eBay but stating that it is new from Monitronics. I also heard they were pocketing downpayments and not reporting them? Buyers Beware!!! Now I am going to speak with an attorney about getting this removed from my credit report and trying to punish these guys for what they did.

I switched from Metronics years ago but I was still locked in so I continued to pay each month. I called them and said I wanted to cancel, they called for several months telling me my alarm wasn't responding and reminded them I had cancelled their service. Now after several years of them charging me I looked at my old contract and my term was up so I called them. I was told I hadn't sent a letter, so in Aug I sent a letter. Now it is Dec and I'm still being charged. The cancellation department says I never sent it. Now to be more user friendly they will do it by email. We'll see.
