On April 3, 2018 I called to terminate my monitoring service. They tried to sell me an upgrade but I refused. After going round on this mulitple times the customer service rep said she could not help me and transferred me to an account rep who again tried to sell me on an upgrade. I finally convinced him I didn't want that and was calling to terminate the service. He said thet they would have to send me an email notification to fill out. This is course they never did. A month has now passed and this week I received a new billing with past due amounts and billing for the period that starts two weeks from now. I also was starting to get harrasing phone calls telling me to pay up as I was past due. I called again and complained that I had already given notification of service termination. They said I had to give them 30 days written notice on their form and then they said I had told them not to send the form. This of course was a lie. I told them to send me a copy of the contract telling me I had to follow their procedure of 30 day written notice when in fact their webiste terms and conditions stated a phone call is sufficient. I told them to send me the contract I had signed and the cancellation form again.

I am to call back again on Monday if I don't receive via email. I am sure it won't be sent as I never signed such an agreement. All I want to do is cancel and all they want to do is string me along for as long as they can to wring more money out of me. As far as I am concerned this is bordering on extortion and fraud.

Rehan Rabbani showed up while we were moving in and was very persistent. Would not leave until we finally said okay. He got us to write him a check for $1008.00 which would cover installation (home was already prewired and set up for security system - new build) which would cover our alarm system and security protection for 3 years. Great Deal Right???? WRONG!!!!!

The check was made out to American Alarm Security Service - but Moni is the provider...... The cashed check has Rehan Rabbani's signature on the back of it.... Check was written on 06/10/17 and cashed on 06/12/17.

We received a letter from Moni Smart Security on 08/07/17 saying the following:

"Dear Subscriber,

Through MONI Smart Security's state of the art Alarm Response Center, MONI provides around-the-clock monitoring of your alarm system on behalf of American Alarm Security Inc.. Our Alarm Response time is up to 10x faster than other industry competitors and we have been recognized as the leading customer service provider in the industry.

Regretfully, MONI can no longer provide first rate monitoring to your residence due to American Alarm Security Inc.'s failure to pay MONI for services rendered. Because we only monitor your system and your agreement is between you and American Alarm Security Inc., we encourage you to contact American Alarm Security Inc. to review your options.

Effective 8/28/17, MONI will no longer monitor your security system or notify emergency authorities in the case of an alarm event.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at 800-615-3745, for further assistance. Please refer to this letter when calling,

When you call they tell you that you have to call American Alarm Security not them to handle this but do not have a number for them to give to you. You can not find contact information online. This is a rip-off. We would like to get our money back but upon reading online, when others tried they have been charged outrageous cancellation fees for doing so which ended up costing them more than they were out to begin with.

Please use this as a warning and do not use either of these companies, MONI or American Alarm Security Inc. We hope this helps others.

I would give this company NO STARS if possible. They are awful to work with. I have been a customer for over 2 years. I am a mother of 2 very young children and my husband travels weekly for work so we decided it would be best to get a alarm installed for safety. I moved into a new home over 3 months ago. I originally texted Moni (a new service they offer so you don't have to wait on hold) and informed them that I would be moving and asked how they handled it. They resonded in a text that they would move my system for free and congratulated me on my new home purchase. When I called to set it up I was informed it would cost $299 and I would have to continue my contact for an additional 18 months. Even though I was upset with the conflicting information, I moved forward.

I have had 3 different appointments set up to have my new system installed. 2 of them appointments the tech did not show up and the 3rd the tech showed up with none of the products that were needed. Moni has continued to charge me for monthly service even though they have not installed a new system in my home. They have been horrible and a complete joke to work with. DO NOT DO BUSINESS with this company. I have obtained leagal council and will be fighting to get out of my contact, which Moni has informed me I must pay in full in order to cancel.

I contacted them to cancel because the prices were too high, a guy on the other line told me I was a lucky person because he had been given permission to reduce my rate by 10.00 for two years. He NEVER mentioned anything about a contract renewal. Now they are telling me I have to pay for the system for the next 24 months, I have called multple times and always hear, we will call you back today when we review the call.

They never call back and instead are now billing me

I was a customer of monitronics Alarm monitoring for two plus years when I decided to terminate the service and switch to another company. I made contact with moni and informed them verbaly that I wished to terminate services, at this point i informed that the termination had to be in writting and submitted to specific addrtess. none of this had I been informed of inadvance. The letter was sent and I paid moni for the month of service even though I stopped using monitronics services at the time of initial notice by phone. I now find myself recieving daily harassing phone calls request more money, with Monitronic you don't have to worrie about being robbed by the burgler, because moni will rob you first.

if you have a moni or monitronic contract I would advise you to carefully terminate it

I wondered why moni changed it name from Monitronics to moni I guess they had a bad name and needed to change it. remember to read their contract because they are not big on discloure.they put things in the contract that they know you would not agree to so they bury it in the verbage. in this writters opinion there is nothing worse then an alarm company you cannot trust

Cancelled services after a year due to loss of home 2010. company continued to bill my card. Had to cancel bank account. trying to charge me for another year or more despite being cancelled. Contacted Company to no avail. asking to resolve this. they put negative account on my credit report. Saw many reports of how this company does this same thing to others. won't cancel when you ask them to.

My company cancelled Monitronics over 4 years ago. We sent them an email in writing as they requested.

We hired a new alarm company called Bay Alarm and the Monitronics system was never used again. Now I see $27 monthly charges and I am glad I notticed it after 4 years. I noticecx the charge as I was looking at my buisiness account and I nearly fell to the ground becuase how can they just charfge me for services after we canclleld in writing and the service has not been used. They got lucky and charfged me $27 per month for over 4 years before I found out. I cant do anything because my paper work was misplaced as this is old news. So just sharing to everyone that MONITRONIC will rip you off
