We bought two tungsten carbide rings from Modern Gents. I noticed the weight of the rings varied by a large amount and a scale also showed a great weight difference. Is this because one ring has more tungsten than the other? Are both rings actually 100% tungsten carbide? Or cheap heavy metal with a coating on them?
Also, we noticed the exact same looking rings for $2 and $20 on eBay so we got those to compare. Interestingly, the weight is exactly the same. The quality on the Modern Gents one for multiple times the price is inferior to the eBay one. The ring shows glue where the multicolored material was glued to the ring and wrapped around. You can see where this starts and ends, like a band-aid. The ends do not line up which is why it is easy to see. Also, the tungsten band itself is not equal in width on the two sides of the rings. There is more black material and more weight on one side so it is lopsided when looking top down or head on.
Do not be fooled by their "limited time" promotions on their website or their little countdown timer when your "deals" will expire. They are always running at least a 50% off or a BoGo 50% off since the cost to obtain or manufacture the rings are so low. They are a cheap reseller of Chinese made rings who puts their label on the rings.
