Jon Phillips, the owner of Model A Garage is an outright liar and terrible business person. On January 16, 2017 I placed a $500 deposit on a vehicle on Ebay for the selling price of $2200 with the vehicle possibly needing a new water pump in the near future. I spent $500 to travel to his place of business where upon 2 miles into the test drive the vehicle began to overheat. Mr. Phillips did not want to repair it himself as he does not work on his personal vehicles. Mr. Phillips offered to spend his own money to repair the vehicle if it was anything other than the water pump. I agreed to pay $450 to replace the water pump if the Marlow Ford determined that was the issue. He also offered to deliver the vehicle to me in South Carolina after he delivered another vehicle in North Carolina, which I agreed to. He also agreed to discount the price of the car $400, to $1800, in order to compensate me for my return flight, which I also accepted. After 2 weeks and no word from Mr. Phillips I made contact with him and he stated that he had to pay $450 to repair the broken thermostat but he was not able to deliver the vehicle and that I would have to pay for the vehicle PRIOR to it leaving his shop if I did not want to fly to Virginia again and drive it home. I stated to Mr. Philips that he needed to hold up his end of the agreement and that I was very flexible on a delivery time and did not mind waiting up to 2 months for delivery. After several phone calls and emails, Mr. Phillip's position changed again. Finally, he is only willing to sell the car for the full and original $2200. He will not be giving me the $400 discount that he offered and I agreed to. Also, he will not deliver the vehicle as he agreed to. I have never encountered someone in business who outright lied to my face without a care for how he treats a fellow business person.
