Mirak Automotive Group Reviews

  • Jul 11, 2022

I’ve just been through a very miserable few weeks with this companies higher level management and feel the need to warn both potential new hires especially for management/mid level management roles with this company as well as consumers, as the behavior I experienced with this company is indicative of one who does not value ethics or the most basic moral compass.

Jonathan Buck, COO of Company made me an offer for a BDC Manager role on 6/29/2022 -Start date was 7/11/2022 -Went through background, references the whole 9 The position would have involved a 1,500 mile relocation, so there was quite a bit of research, planning and preparation to react accordingly and be positioned on the other side of the country, ready to start work.

Finally we identified an area that worked for us and a specific apartment community. Problem is the COO was constantly on vacation/celebrating his birthday, off for the 4th of July, and I was left to communicate solely with Sherry Johnson, HR who very quickly made me aware she was not happy about the hire in more than a few not-so-subtle hints.

It became clear perhaps the COO might have overstepped and made an offer he couldn’t keep. The problem is he never once took ownership of this and chose to hide behind his HR, too sheepish to man-up and admit he tried to write a check in the end he couldn’t cash. From the very beginning she (HR) was stonewalling/slow rolling me, ignoring emails and texts and delaying movement in any way possible.

Even suggesting once that we could/should "delay” things because the COO moves too quickly which seemed very odd and borderline inappropriate to suggest my hire was rash. Almost no communication goes on between the offer letter and my start date the little that does is never through email, HR is always calling, saying on my voicemail she has a "few questions”, it was clear she didn’t want to utilize email or crate a digital trail and was constantly trying to derail the hire.

So last week I reach out to the COO who’s on vacation (again) and tell him we need to finalize this if I’m to make this move as I’d been preparing to do, and that I’m waiting on the relocation as agreed and accepted. He has the HR lady call me who leaves a voicemail saying she’s calling on behalf of the COO (in a tone she’s irritated I’m expecting communication the Wednesday before the Monday I’m supposed to start work on the other side of the county) and has "a few questions” and needs to "go over some paperwork”.

I call her back grinding my teeth knowing full well this is just a game of f*ckery at this point. She proceeded to act surprised when I told her the relocation the COO and I agreed on was a bonus, paid before the move, and then said she’d talk to the owner. I shoot the COO a text and say what’s up, I thought we agreed on 20k up front before I moved.

He says "Flat $20k is what we agreed to just a matter of not wanting to stroke a $20k up front before you even start would be my guess. I’ll speak with her Monday and work out details” Monday (my tentative start date) comes and I get another voicemail form the HR lady saying she has some "more questions”. I’m f*cking livid.

I call her back and she begins to tell me how she had a conversation with the COO and owner this morning. She has this "great idea” … "why don’t you come out on the week of the 25th to meet with the COO and owner” she says. I proceed to tell her they’ve already offered the job, and that this is completely unacceptable and disrespectful to me and my family, she proceeds to control the conversation by saying ok, no problem we will have our attorney draft up a relocation agreement and have it to you in a couple days.

Knowing full well this incompetent HR lady isn’t going to be doing jack for me to push this forward I text the COO at noon letting him know I’m done and finally hear back by text at 3. Says he’s been cranking statements out all day but "met with HR to review details this morning” he clearly wasn’t all that concerned I was no longer pursuing the role, apparently I did him a favor getting him off the hook for overstepping, but it would stand to reason he could have picked up the phone and communicated with me considering I’d just spent the last 2 weeks preparing to move based on his written offer.

I sent Jonathan Buck, the COO an invoice for the revenue i had lost out on (which didn’t include anything beyond straight monitory loss/damages as a result of the expectation I would be relocating and starting work on 7/11/2022. ) His response was to block my iPhone. So if you think this company gives 2 sh*ts about you and your family, know that from the top-down this organization doesn’t value the damage failing to honor their commitments or even communicate to facilitate an understanding based on the most and minimal respect one would expect.

If this is how disposable they treat their management imagine how they treat customers and lower level employeesz Typical slime ball dealership. Mirak Chevrolet, Mirak Hyundai, Mirak Genesis
