I worked for Mr. Natarajan breifly last year as in independent contractor. He had me doing some minor projects compleintg homes he had built. He then asked me to make some menu boards for his son's restaurant. We negotiated an agreed on amount, made the boards, delivered the boards, and then submitted the bill. When he received the bill, he decided it was too much and he did not agree to it. So I went to collect the boards before they were put into use. He was angry I picked them up and siad it was bad business on my part. He was also quite nasty to my sister who was workign on a school project with him. He was not able to separate my sister from the board project with me. He decided to offer to pay the hours it took to complete the boards at $10 and hour and reimburse receipts. This was not what we agreed on. I stayed with the agreed on price. He then not only left us with custom made boards, he did not pay me for work I had completed on his homes. Had I not collected the boards, he would have kept them either without paying or at a price he determined after the job was completed.
I have heard from other contractors in the area that he has work completed and then does not pay. It is a pattern. Be cautious when doing business with Raj.
Raj Natarajan is the owner of Mint Homes in Houston. Raj contracted me to provide "specially fabricated materials" for a restaurant he was remodeling in the Houston area, namely "The Durham House" located at 1200 Durham drive Houston, Texas 77077. The materials and labor I provided were very expensive white marble table tops that had to be cut, and polished and made table ready for the restaurant use.
Raj agreed to pay me per contract $4290 for the fabrication and delivery of the described materials. This price did not included sealing the table tops which was an extra job i performed on request and billed for another $500 or $4,790 in total.. After delivering the tables, 36 in all, Raj and Mint homes refused to pay the invoice which has forced me to be without my money for months and also forced me to file a lien on the property while my family goes without food or Christmas presents .
Raj does not answer his calls or mail. Moreover, I have now discovered that Raj's pattern of non-payment is a pattern that he has persistently used on other contractors whom I will not name here out of respect for them. Some have referred to him as a "contruction crook". I say don't be fooled by the nice veneer that he projects or you could be a victim also.
