I called because my spring broke and I couldnt get my car out of the garage. I asked how much to exept the cost would be for the repair. I was told about $400.
hey came out the next morning and he told me that the spring I needed would be more expensive then the one he thought it was the night before but he would give me this and that discount. It seemed rather expensive but I needed my car out and he was giving me these discounts.
When he was done, he told me that the cost was $967! I didnt know what to do because he had already done the work. So I paid it. I called around and was told my a couple of comapanies that I was charged double what I should have been charged.
I called Overhead and they said that since I signed it and paid for it, there is nothing they would do for me. I got scammed for about $500. Do not use this company!!!!
One of the Springs on my two-car garage door broke. I searched Google for a Garage Door repair company and I chose the 1st one taht came up. It was a paid Advertisement for Minneapolis Overhead Garage Doors. The website (http://www.minneapolisoverheaddoors.com) had a coupon for $75 dollars off, I called and asked them to come out.
The party on the other end of the call was very professional. I was called by a local technician, Dakota. He told me he could be out within 90 minutes, I agreed.
Dakota arrived and inspected the Garage door, he quoted me $1200 to replace the broken spring and the other spring. I thought to myself that seems excessive but let him continue. I then went into the house made sseveral phone calls to other local garage door repair companies and they all quoted $200. I went back to the garage told Dakota to stop working explained to him that $1200 was excessive and to leave. He called his boss who then lowered the price to $800. I told him the price was still excessive but he starting expalining to me how his company used 'steel' dipped springs as opposed to 'oil' dipped springs and that his springsd would last much longer than mine, which had only lasted 5 years. When I asked about a lifetime warranty on the springs which the other comapnies said they had, Dakota said his company had none. I let him talk me into completing the repair. The garage door at least works for now, so I'm thankful for that.
I felt ripped off to the tune of $600, so I searched Google and found that the springs retail for about $60 dollars, Dakota charged me $200 each. I then found a lot of complaints against 'Garage Door Services Co' which is what 'Minneapolis Overhead Garage Doors' is affliated with.
I don't think its faiir that a company can so blatantly rip someone off. I'm going to try and do something about it. Never do business with Garage Door Services Co, or Minneapolis Overhead Garage Doors they will rip you off.
Minneapolis - Garage Door Services were chosen to replace broken garage door springs, due to there being the quickest to service the door. There website touted ( low prices, discount coupons and customer satisfaction). However I received the exact opposite, the products and services offered were far pricier than their competitors and they refused to honor the coupons on the website at the time. Customer satisfaction is non existent here and I would stay far away from these bait and switch tactics offered up by this company.
