Rented a property from this company because of its location and because it seemed nice on inspection. A week after moving in, plumbers hired by the property owner showed up unannounced and tore giant holes in the sheet rock, leaving exposed wires and plumbing in the living room and kitchen. In addition to the holes, after they left, there was a steady and persistant leak.
Everyone at Mill House Properties for which we had contact information was contacted in writing and over the phone several times over the next few months, including the property manager, the leasing assistant, and the leasing consultant. Finally, about 3 months after the leak started and the holes appeared (and an entire 9 months before the end of the lease term) we were asked to sign a new lease for the next year (9 months in advance) or give notice to vacate.
Each time we contacted the leasing consultant we received nothing but lies to get us off of the phone, which is how the unit went unrepaired for so long. Many times over the 3 months we were told "someone will be out there today to fix the issues". Additionally, this company attempted to coerce us into giving notice to vacate several weeks before required to by the initial lease agreement.
Additionally the rent on our unit is being raised by 42% for the next year.
This company is unprofessional and its employees and management are incompetent and conniving. Anyone interested in renting in the Chapel Hill/Carrboro area would do well to avoid Mill House Properties at all costs!
