Hired the company to replace a pool pump motor that was bad for $700. The new motor he sold me had a warranty of one year but within three months the new motor went out. I tried to contact him but he refuses to call me back or respond to messages.
I called another local pool repair company and explained my situation and the tech asked me if Miles Pool Repair was licensed and I told him he was but couldn't find a license number on the invoice. The tech told me several people who claim to be pool repair people replace motors but install them incorrectly and the motor wont last. He said this is very dangerous because these are wired 220volts and could cause a fire. The tech also asked what I paid and he told me that motor replacement shouldn't cost more than $450. After speaking with the tech I checked to see if Miles Pool Service was licensed and could locate no electrical or contractors license.
Bottom line, do your due diligence and check to make sure anyone who does work is licensed and insured. Sadly It cost me $700 but it couldve been much worse if there was a fire or if someone was electrocuted.
