Midwest Disability, P.A. Reviews

After being denied for disability twice I decided to get an attorney. I found Midwest Disability online and seen they charged 25% of your back pay and gave a free evaluation. I contacted them and began the process. They sent me paperwork to sign to get all my medical records and asked me questions. I filed for SSDI and SSI however they did not explain to me that I was going to lose 25% each instead of 25% total. That would have been a major factor in me deciding whether to go with an attorney or not. I had been off work for quite a while and had 4 kids to raise. By the time I found out...By them sending more paperwork for me to sign I was told I could not opt out at that point because they had already started my case. They set up a court hearing and I never met with an attorney until maybe 20-30 minutes before my hearing!!! I was not very happy about that, I did not feel confident about my attorney and that left me with a very uneasy feeling. Sent my anxiety through the roof.

After my hearing I did not hear from them again until I was approved and payment was sent to them. To my shock and heartbreak, my total back pay was approximately 17,000.00 and I got 10,000.00! They got 7,000.00 for getting medical records I could have gotten them and spending 45 minutes in person with me at the courthouse!! I thought they were only getting about 4,300.00 when I started this process with them. I was going to use 10,000.00 to pay bills and get what I needed and put the rest in a savings account. They advertise that they help us....no....honestly I now know I could have done everything they did myself. I strongly feel they are taking advantage of those of us who think we have to have a lawyer to get our benefits and taking much needed money out of our pockets! I've looked for places to leave a complaint/review about them for quite a while now, I am so glad I finally found this from someone else's complaint. They didn't really do anything I hadn't already done except schedule a court hearing. I had already applied for the SSDI and SSI! My friend went through an attorney for her disability and she got back over 30,000.00 in back pay, she paid her attorney as much as I did and they helped her from day 1 of her application! After they got paid they never contacted me again, to see if I was satisfied or had any questions, nothing. All I got was a letter stating that they were closing my file! I can only pray that people will take to heart our stories and stay away from them! It's not about the people for them, it's about the money and they definitely didn't do the work for what they got from me!

Overall I was a healthy 43 year old individual. Then I had a seizure in April 2017, brain surgery to remove tumor May 2017, diagnosed with brain cancer May 2017, and will be going through chemotherapy for at least a year. I don't have enough room to describe all the symptoms and limitations that have come along with this. After assuring me not only do I qualify as disabled until I beat this (which I will) my case would be fast tracked. All they did was get my case denied in record time for not presenting it correctly which has left me and my 14 year old son in a worse position. There are way too many options to bother with this company.
