I am a single disabled parent and have been with Mid Cities CU for almost three years. During this time I have had my account information stolen three times. The first time my debit card was stolen, used, and put back by whom I can only assume was a new emergency sitter I hired by recommendation of a friend. The only way my pin number could of been used is if someone searched through my personal belonging. I have a learning Dyslexic disability and must write things down to make life easier. Due to my disability I do not understand alot of things and tend to not bother with it if it will frustrate me and checking my statements is one of them. So the following month when I didn't get my full direct deposit I chopped it up to my disability by not counting how much I spent.
The second time all my bank information was stolen by someone this time I had to have known or my children had to have known and had over. But this time my pin was not used because I had gotten better at hiding important information, so I had thought. The thief charged up my card and although the credit union replaced my money with a new account, they released the new information to one of the companies that was used by the thief to keep charging my account. No one else had this information but the government agency that direct deposits my funds and they don't just give out personal information that easy. I had a family member go over my credit union statements with me and I contacted the company that told me they got my new account number from the credit union. When I called them they denied it but quickly put my money back into my account.
Now they are holding my disability benefits because they claim a wife I don't have has deposited fake checks into my account. All this I find out when I go into the branch to personally report my card stolen and and withdraw my funds. All I got was $100 of my my money and an accusation having a wife I don't have (nor have I ever been married and am currently single) call to remove a block that I never knew was applied. It was only after I searched my home upside down and couldn't find the folder I keep my all important documents in I knew I was missing my prepaid credit cards, credit union card, pin numbers, kids social security/medical cards, checks, etc. and they had to have been stolen. Now because I have a consistant proof that I don't use my card after the 15th of every month, they can clearly see if they check my statements that I have no activity until my next benefit deposit.
Now I have wait for a check to clear that I did not deposit to get my disability money because they have a freeze on my account. I was told to file a police report, which was getting done without their suggestion and wait until this check to clear that they said was fake to get the rest of my government benefits. I now have someone helping me type this report and go over all my statements to make sure I haven't been getting got by Mid Cities Credit Union or anyone else for that matter and from now on I'll carry all my credit/debit cards and sleep with them pinned in a soft material bag inside my underwear.
