In April 2018 I was taken via ambulance to CHARLTON METHODIST HOSPITAL, Dallas (Duncanville) TX. After being involved in a three car MVA. I was in severe pain and barely cognizant. I was taken to RADIOLOGY for a CT SCAN, and the hospital worker physically took my 1kt diamond earrings off of my body, along with four other diamond earrings and a 18kt gold / diamond cross pendant and necklace. These 1kt stud earrings and the necklace were both a cherished birthday gift from my husband. I was medicated and not coherent. Upon discharge I called for the doctor, a nurse, an aid for assistance getting dressed. No MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL CAME TO EXPLAIN MY DISCHARGE, DIAGNOSOS or HOME CARE.
Rather Hospital Police came to my room. A female officer had to assist me, and basically dressed me, while a male officer physically looked. The female officer left and I was escorted by two male hospital public safety officers in a wheelchair to the lobby. I advised them my earrings were gone, and likely taken by the black female RADIOLOGY worker. The Hospital public safety officers told me : 1. You probably never had any earrings on when you arrived. 2. If you did have earrings on, they are probably in the trash. 3. Any belongings you had were returned to you. I was given no advanced notice of being discharged from the hospital ER. I did not have time to call for a ride home.
I was distraught because no person was interested in finding my belongings. I called for a SOCIAL WORKER, as well as for a HOSPITAL ADMINISTRATOR. A hospital Consignier came and took a similance of a report. ALL THE WHILE- NOT ONE PERSON PHYSICALLY MADE ANY ATTEMPT TO LOCATE MY STOLEN EARRINGS. I was being pushed aside, with no care or concern made about my complaint. On/Anout 45 days after the THEFT, I received a letter from CHARLTON METHODISE HOSPITAL stating that they had reached a conclusion stating any belongs were returned to the patient, being placed on the gurney. Placing very expensive one carat diamond earring a on the hospital gurney of an unconscious patient is unexceptable and not acting in good faith, fair dealings and not protecting the patients rights.
CHHARLTON METHODIST HOSPITAL IS obliged to employ all reasonable means to ensure that a patients personal effects are protected. This was clearly not done, and this hospital should and will be held liable THEFT. I plan on filing a formal complaint with this organization and file civil suit of necessary. I will also push for criminal charges to be filed on my behalf against the RADIOLOGY worker that took my earrings from my person. At NO TIME while being admitted into this hospital ER, after being wheeled in from an ambulance was I advised that this hospital was not liable for theft or stolen property. Nor was I informed about the risks of objects of value disappearing at this hospital. Noboetson made amy reasonable attempt to safeguard my personal property at any time. Noting it was TAKEN OFF MY PERSON BY A HOSPTAL WORKER.
