On 4/7/16, I was experiencing some severe lung issues and needed to get after hours care at our Emergency Room. @ Mercy Medical . I arrived at the ER about 1 am. I filled out the needed paperwork and waited to be seen. The waiting room was not too busy so i thought that I would bee seen rather quickly. I wated for over an hour and then was called back for a x- ray of my chest, The x-ray completed then I was told that I had to go back to the waiting area and wait as there were two people ahead of me. Ok, I then waited for another two hours before I go up and asked how much longer it would be?
The receptionist said well with it being the ER you never know how long it will be. That was not a good enough answere. So I informed her that I was getting tired along with feeling poorly, she called back and spoke with one of the nurses and explained that I was wanting to just go home after waiting for what was amost two hours. So finally what seems like an eternity the nurse comes out and tells me that it would be another hour before I would be able to be seen & that they only have one Physiacian on the floor of the ER What !! I was at this time so tired that I just wanted to go home and go
to sleep and deal with this issue in the morning. I needless to say didnt stay. I filled out a release form and was
happy to get the hell out of there. I dont understand why you would only have one ER doctor for a town of people
whoever made that decision needs to be fired. Just idiocy to make people waith that long.
I had a scheduled Doctor's appointment today, and my Doctor had wanted me to get a blood draw to check my Thyroid levels. I had no problem with this since this is part of my regular Doctor's visit. I Would normally use The Mercy outpatient Lab which has always been exceptional in it's treatment of me. Well not today. I was called back for my draw and was doing fine. Untill a very unskilled and unprofessional young woman started to draw my blood. I was stuck two times and she still did not get any blood. Okay. I then asked for someone else with more skill. But the third time and another young woman and still nothing and this new young woman then when she could not get any blood started to twist the needle into my vein and these two incompetent idiots caused me more pain than was needed. To top it all off I noticed that one of these two was wearing a Ucc student hoodie. what bussiness does a student have working on a patient if they obviously havent the skill or the training to be doing so? They both need to go back to school for more training before ever working on a person,
I got so fed up with being stuck now for a total of three times that I got up and walked out. I then headed back over to my Doctor to let them know about this fiasco with the Labs botched attemps at the blood draw. I was then informed by one ot the receptionists whi is also a medical professional that if they had told me that I needed to drink a lot of water that my veins would have responded better. Well that would have been nice to know. Once again total incompetience by so called professionals. I then got another Lab request sheet and headed to another Lab to see if I could find someone who knew what they were doing and gentlier than the last. I ended up going to the Qwest Lab. I got in fairly quickly and was seen by a woman who was very professional, quick and right on the money. She got the draw first time. I was breathing a sigh of relief . I will be using the Qwest Lab for any future lab requests.
