Meltwater Reviews
This is a dishonest company. They are intentionally deceptive, practice underhanded and aggressive sales tactics towards their customers to try to strong-arm them into extending their service. They refused to accept my requests to not renew my account at the end of the term, even though I requested it several times in e-mail correspondence with their customer service. Then when the contract term expired, they auto-renewed it, and claimed this was "in the contract" and that my company was legally bound to do this. They also had the gall to claim that the auto-renew system was for the benefit of their customers. This is obviously the language of racketeers, not a professional organization. What an obnoxious, dishonest, and horrible company to have ever been involved with. Their behavior toward me bordered on harrassment, threatening me with collections and legal action. I hope that the CA Attorney General's office takes action against this group of bottom-dwellers soon. Their behavior toward me bordered on harrassment.
Do not hire them. If you are already in contract with them, read the fine print (which is not actually on the contract, but on an external Terms of Service web page) and plan your escape from this company now.
I may as well add that in addition to the above, Meltwater's services are sub-par and out of date, and there are many other better options when choosing a company to hire for media services.
Meltwater as a service platform isn't bad. I subscribed to Meltwater News for a full year at about $5,000. This gave me access to their media database which was relatively accurate. Some records were either out of date or not listed at all. But that wasn't my main complaint. No database can be 100% current or accurate. My main complaint is with the fact that your annual account is renewed automatically for $5,000 unless you give official notification 60 days before your current agreement is up. Yes, they include this language in the small print of the agreement, and bad on me for not carefully reading every line. But in this day and age to force clients to stay for another year at such a high rate is unthinkable. Stay far, far FAR away from Meltwater.
