How would you like to be charged for nothing and then told you can't get a refund? Let me explain, quick...
Years ago (thank God we left them) we had our domain registered with Melbourne IT. Every year, we would have to pay $50.00 to forward it to our website, since we used a different domain. Imagine that! GoDaddy does it for free, but not Melbourne IT.
Well, we dumped them and transferred the domain a few years ago to GoDaddy. All of the sudden, we start receiving warning letters from Melbourne IT that our domain is going to expire. My wife isn't sure, so she updates her credit card with their site to avoid losing our domain -- not remembering that we transferred this domain YEARS AGO.
After realizing this, we contacted their support team. TWO PEOPLE assured us that we would not be charged at all, since there was no reason for the charge -- no product existed in their database anymore.
They end up charging us $50.00 anyway. Even after I had two people look into it to make sure we would not be charged. So I wrote them and asked for a refund, and this is the nice little gem I received back today:
Dear Matthew,
I apologized for the misinformation that you were provided. But web forwarding will still work even if the domain name is not registered with us. Even if the DNS management is not with us it will still work. No I see no point in a refund for this case.
