possible scam

i received a call around 8:30 pm, my experience was about the same as above, she ask me my name , she had my address, says she was from the medical group located in Florida, trying to get some information for my insurance. and i looked at the time, i told her you in florida what time was it there she says 11:30, she asked me my birth date, she says i sound like i could have been 30, seems like it was said just to get the conversation from the questions, she then said that i was the last call and she was going home. She mention that she use to live in solano county, she ask for my doctors name, and what hospital she work out of. She then asked me for my medical record #, I told her that in didnt know it off hand, she insisted that she needed it and she will call me tomorrow. i told her to leave a message on my recorder if i didnt pick up. she did give me the telephone # 888 834-8088 if i need to verify. then she hung up. I do have the number that she called from, it was a 415 area code. i locked it my phone.

SCAM

My experience was the same as above only I live in a small community in Wisconsin. The number she was calling from had the same area code and prefix as this community. Very deceptive. After I repeatedly ask her to quit calling me, she hangs up.

On 1/18/2016 around 8:30 , this lady called me asking about my pain and my medical insurance. She was asking me about my pain and pain medicines. She asked me about my primary doctor's name and wanted to know my BC/BS information.

I was already suspicious and when I asked her why she was calling, she stated that my doctor should've given me some pain pills for my pain. The call was made in a room where others were making calls. This lady had a heavy Phillipian accent, that I could barely understand.

When I begin to really put the pressure on who she was, where she's located and where did she get my personal info, I was told that she was calling from St Pete but their main office was in Texas. The more I questioned her on why she needed my group number, eventually the phone went blank.

They keep calling and this is very annoying!

Had just left my pain managment doctor who was referring me for a procedure. An hour later I got a call from Medical Service Group that came in with a local 206 area code. They said they needed to clarify where my pain was, my insurance info, my doctor's name. I kept on saying that I wasn't comfortable giving my medical info over the phone. I called my insurance company and the doctors office and neither of them have heard of a Medical Service Group and said they never would have called for that info.

Recieved a phone call today, 8/10/17 @ approximately 11:09 AM from a foreign woman who was clearly calling from some bioler room operation (there was lots of noise in the background from other representatives on the phone). She did not immediately identify herself but right away asked is this (my name)? I asked her "who is this and what is it about" to which she kept asking if the name she had was me.

I figured this must be a scam because I had to ask many questions before it was clear what she was calling about and she seemed quite aggressive in trying to get pieces of personal information from me before telling me exactly what her purpose was. Finally I was able to get the name of her company, Medical Service Group, and that they are a compounding pharmacy billing people's insurance for pain relieving cream or patches.

She read off to me my mailing address and somehow knew I was in pain, but did not know what areas of the body, and she called out to me an incorrect birth date and kept insisting I give her the correct one.

She explained after much questioning that my doctor could choose what medications to include in the cream or patch and that my insurance could cover it (although I am pretty sure she did not know which insurance I have).

I told her since she already had my mailing address she could mail me detailed infirmation about the product and I would look at it and if it looked like something I would like to try I'd show it to my doctor, but she balked at this and kept wanting my date of birth. When I told her she did not need that and only would the company need it upon insurance filing (if and only if I decided I swanted it) she hung up on me.

That was when I was 100% sure it was a scam, because what legitimate company does that if they truly want your business and are not simply trying to get money out of you/and or data mining for identity theft purposes?

Please shut this company down. I Googled it and apparently they are nation wide; not just in one location, and I suspect they are calling people from off-shore since most of the other reports I've found say the representative has a foreign accent. This could be to avoid prosecution on US soil, but I would think that there is something that can be done either to block them from contacting people here in the US at the server level, or some International Law that applies.

I really hope that something can be done to stop companies like this from continuing to abuse people's personal data, as I know that many older citizens fall victim to such scams if they are not sharp or knowledgable about the MO of such companies. Luckily I have an investigation/advocacy background and smelled a rat, but others may not see the red flags and fall for the cons characteristic of these unscrupulous scams.

I knew better than to give her any payment information whatsoever, so I am not out any money, but figured I should be proactive and report this as soon as possible.

Please keep me posted on any new developments regarding the prosecution and/or other disciplinary action taken against this company.

TELEPHONE MEDICAL SCAM

05/20/2017

Received at call at 8:23 AM asking about my pain (I have no pain). The caller had an Indian accent. I said it is 8:23 AM, do not call me. At 11:30 AM I received another call the person had a slight Indian accent. I said please do not call me and hung up. At 4:25 PM I received another call. The woman had a heavy Filipino accent that was difficult to understand. I decided to go along with the scam. She asked for my Social Security number and I told her I do not give such information over the phone. She then stated my Social Security number and asked was that correct and she even stated my home address. She wanted to know the name of my physician and his address and wanted the name and number of my insurance and pharmacy card number. I told her I do not have a pharmacy card number and I could not give her my insurance name and number. Then began to question her about the name and address of her company. She gave me 888-834-8088 and said headquarters was in Rollington, Florida but her company had a location in Philadelphia, PA but would not give the alleged address. The three calls came from 484 352-2626. This number and the 888-834-8088 numbers would not ring.

Possible Scam

Odd "message" on machine, by not the most intelligent person. My guess would be that the woman calling heard via speaker the male voice on machine going through its message and thought someone had picked up. But who answers the phone with "no one is available to take your call," etc? So she says she's some garbled sound and she needs to speak with (my name). First off, that's so unprofessional, I don't know where to begin. A legitimate call would state their name and company, then ask to speak with whoever. She then proceeds to spend a full minute and a half going "hello"..."hello"..."hello"..."hello"...onto the recording. It's obvious no one answered, plus no legitimate professional would do such a thing. The name that came up on the Caller ID is Medical Svc Grp. No idea who this is. I have one doctor (who also has no idea), no health issues or bills, so the truth of the matter is they do not need to speak with me. After looking them up, I see scam warnings abound. All sorts of numbers, various states. So I'm guessing it was a scam call looking to get either info or money, or both. I'm about ready to drop my landline - I get nothing but scams and robots calling with "great offers".

SCAM

5/3/17 A woman with a very heavy accent called my cell phone telling me that she wanted to coordinate my pain medications with my doctor and pharmacy. I explained that I did not need any assistance yet she persisted, asking for insurance information. Interestingly, she knew my primary insurance, DOB, and address. I again told her that I did not need assistance and began to question who had her call, her company's location and service mission and how she got my information. When she refused to answer my questions, I hung up on her.

Medical Service Group won't leave me alone

They call 3, 4, sometimes 5 times a day on my cell phone and home phone. I am on the federal do-not-call list, and I have told them so. I have blocked their numbers, but they keep calling from other ones, almost always in Michigan, where I live. My job requires me to answer my cell phone, so I can't just ignore them, although I have started hanging up as soon as I hear "Medical Service Group." What can be done about companies like this?

Medical Service Group They call my house all day every day. I answered and told them no one here has chronic pain and no one has diabetes and to remove my number. I have blocked them several times and they just call from a different number. I even called back and the guy who seems to be clearly from another country just says thank you for calling back and hangs up after I tell him to remove my number. I want this to stop. Short of getting my house phone turned off or changing my number this is driving me crazy. ... your description ... United States

This company won't stop calling me even though I have asked them to stop. They want to know about my pain which I don't have and never have had. Then they ask me about my amputated leg which I don't have. When I ask them to stop calling me, they hang up. When I ask to talk to a supervisor, they hang up. I can't block their number because every call is from a different number starting with the area code of 314 and then 207-83and two other numbers such as 17, 62, 37, 61, 51, 36, 27. I want them to stop calling me but cant' get them to do so.

I believe it was january 19, 2018 – in the a.M. That they called and were blocked for probably the sixth time. You block one number and they call from another one and you can see by this list of phone numbers these are just recent calls this is been going on for six months to a year. I'm completely tired of it and have asked them to stop See above) and i block numbers, but the calls keep coming from different numbers.

  • Feb 1, 2018

These crooks use several numbers but is always the same scam. I have demanded that they stop bothering me, the calls actually increased. Today I talked to a "supervisor" and demanded that they stop calling me, they have called four times since.

Watch out for these numbers

  • Jan 25, 2018

This number called me numerous times 614-368-0716. When I answered they knew my name and date of birth and asked if I needed to order pain cream. When I asked further questions the caller hung up on me. This kind of scam needs to stop.

  • Jan 11, 2018

  • Jan 10, 2018

Just want them to stop calling me - have requested they stop calling and they don’t listen.

  • Dec 6, 2017

Two foreign sounding individuals (one male & one female) called me to tell me I was accepted into a program for pain management by using a pain cream. Told them I did not sign up for any such program. When I asked how they got my health care records, they hung up. The female caller persisted until I told her I was reporting the company to the Office of Civil Rights of the Health & Human Services Department for violating my HIPPA rights, she ung up on me.

  • Nov 20, 2017

  • Sep 10, 2017

Just another scam

Got a call last evening about 7:30 PM, and the pattern followed closely what has already been stated. When the obviously foreign-born woman insisted that I tell her the source of my pain, I replied that info was personal and I was not going to provide that to her. She then said something to the effect of "Aren't you listening to me?' at which point I told her to do something that is anatomically impossible, and referred to her with a term that is normally used to describe a female canine (think about it) . At that point I hung up. After reading these comments, I now realize that we have been getting calls from these scammers for several weeks, as we listen to their words when the answering machine picks up and they say "Hello?....Hello?... is anyone there?". I expect I will get more of these in the future, and I delight in telling them nasty, ugly things about members of their family. Not much you can do to stop them from calling, as these type of people use computers to generate random numbers that show up on caller ID. Wonder if they are working with the wonderful people from Windows security that are trying to help me with my computer?

Annoying calls

They call multiple times a day, no messages left. They use different numbers to call from. I called back a d pressed #3 to be removed. They called back on a other line a few mins later. Very annoying.

  • Aug 12, 2017

These calls started about a month ago, and have come in several times a day almost every day, most times every few minutes. I realize that these are robo-calls. Our answering machine picks up, but no one ever leaves a message. It is very frustrating..

  • Jul 27, 2017

This company calls me all hours of the day and night on my home phone, and when I answer they hang up but call again immediately. This is quite distrurbing to me as I am in my 70's and usually go to sleep by 10 pm. This is frightening for a Senior Citizen, and it is disturbing and needs to stop immediately. I block the calls and they call back on another number. The number from this morning is 323-407-8425.

Medical Service Group

I just received a phone call from a foreign woman who knew all my details, mailing address, name, birth date etc.. She told me she was calling about a topic pain ointment that my Dr. called in a prescription for. Wanted to know my insurance company. When I asked her what Dr. she was referring to she told me it was my primary physician. When I told her my primary physician didn't prescribe me anything she hung up. The scary thing is that she knows all my medical information.

How are they getting the information??
