Not worried about performing work they are pre paid for.
I was initially impressed with the great pricing but my enthusiasm was quickly diminished. I dropped off a striped down Mosin barrel and chamber on 3/18/20 to have a little bit of machine work and 1 color Cerakote performed (machine work consisted of boring the muzzle brake to the correct caliber, tapering the muzzle brake to the barrel, and little clean up where 3 holes were drilled and tapped in the receiver). I was told initially that they were backed up and it would take 4 to 6 weeks which was no problem. They told me it would be $175.00 for everything and I immediately paid $180 cash(due to lack of change) and I was happy with doing so.
Fast forward 4 weeks, I called on 4/17/20 to see if it was too late to change the color of the Cerakote in which they informed me that it wouldn’t be a problem because they had to put in an order anyway. I inquired about the progress of their work load and they informed me that it should be at the end of the 6 week period for completion. I completely understood and was ok with it due that I scheduled not to have it before 6 weeks anyway.
I called again on 5/3/20 to inquire about the progress and they said that they were just getting to the backlog and it should be a few more days to get it done. I completely understood because I understand how shops can get backed up and deadlines sometimes cannot be met.
I went by the shop on 5/23/20 because I haven’t heard a thing. I wanted to get a refund because they have not touched it. They told me that if I left it with them 1 more week they would complete it. We came to an agreement that if they did the machine work that day, so I could pick it up, they could keep the price I paid to have the Cerakote done and not coat it. I got a call that afternoon and they told me that all they had left was to taper the muzzle brake but the machinist left for the day. They informed me that my barrel was chucked in the lathe and will be complete before noon on Monday 5/25/20. I agreed I would pick it up then.
Monday 5/25/20, I swung by the shop at 12:30 to pick up my Mosin and I was informed that THEY HAVE NOT TOUCHED IT YET. He brought the barrel to me and it wasn’t even in the lathe. He told me that I can leave it with them a few more days to get it done or get a refund. I got the refund.
This is some of the worst customer service I have ever seen. I would have much more respect for the business if they would be completely honest and quit the lying. In my experience, they are great if you want to store your weapon at their location for 10 ½ weeks but I can’t comment on the quality of the work because I have yet to see any work.
Paid Aklys Defense, LLC in full for a Falcata AR 10 on Oct. 30, 2015. Mr. Joe Meaux, CEO, stated the rifle would be ready for shipment in 4 - 5 days. At the end of November, Joe stated that the rail was on backorder.
Over the past 4 months, the customer service provided by Mr. Meaux has increasing diminished to the point that he no longer responds to voice/text/email messages. On March 8, 2016 I emailed Mr. Meaux requesting full refund yet received no response.
March 14, 2016 – I sent a follow up email to Mr. Meaux requesting the status of my refund, yet still no response. I followed up with a text message and received the same result. No response. Again, on March 16, 2016 I left a voice message on Mr. Meaux's cell phone but received no response.
March 24, 2016 - 2:33pm - Called Alkys Defense and spoke to Gabriel who stated Mr. Meaux was on a conference call and that the refund would be processed the same day.
March 31, 2016 - Complaint filed with and accepted by the BBB.
April 5, 2016 - Contacted Baton Rouge Police Department's 3rd District Office to determine how they can assist me to resolve this matter.
