On March 5th, 2016, I contacted Matt (Leasing Agent) at 972-681-8094 inquiring about a three bedroom apartment. During our phone conversation he assured me that he would have a three bedroom available on March 25, 2016 if I completed an application and $450 deposit for the apartment. On Tuesday March 8th, 2016 I dropped off my application and deposit at The Meadows at Ferguson office staff at 11760 Ferguson Rd, Dallas, TX 75228.
On March 14th, 2016 I was informed by Matt that my application was approved and we discussed an additional $150 security deposit and that I would need to pay a full month’s rent $960 on March 25th, when I moved in and that April’s rent would be prorated.
On March 25, 2016 I was due to move into a three bedroom apartment at Meadows at Ferguson which I was informed by the office staff that a three bedroom was not available for move in and they didn’t know when it would be ready. They also contacted Matt via phone which he was out of the office and I was informed he would be contacting me.
Monday, March 28, I did not hear from Matt and I faxed and mailed a letter requesting to have the apartment ready by March 31, or to return my deposit. I didn’t hear from Matt until Tuesday March 29th which at that time he stated to me he didn’t want me to feel like he slided me because the apartment was not ready and he would have it ready on March 31.
On March 31, I called 972-681-8094 and left a message in regards to the apartment and I didn’t receive a phone call. On April 1, I called and went by the office and I was informed the apartment would be ready by 4:30 that day and that they had a crew working finishing up some minor details (hanging doors).
When I was on my way back to the office to view the apartment and make sure it was ready I received a phone call from a guy at 3:49 Pm from phone number 972-681-8095, stating the apartment was not ready and he wasn’t sure what the issue was and that he tried contacting the apartments but he couldn’t reach them.
He informed me not to waste my time going back over there that day. He said they would continue working that I could move into the apartment on Saturday morning if I just signed the lease or Sunday.
I informed him that I would not be signing a lease on an apartment that I haven’t viewed. He stated he would call me back and I never heard from him. I called on Saturday and left a voicemail to check the status of the apartment and I never received a phone cal.
Today April 4, 2016, I went to the apartment office and asked if the apartment was ready and the lady in the office told me the make ready guy had the keys to the apartment and he was not in the office yet but on his way. I informed the lady in the office today was April 4, 2016 and that I have been waiting since March 25, 2016 for this apartment to be ready and if it’s not ready they need to return my deposit. At that time I went to my car to retrieve my cell phone to call 972-681-8094 a guy placed me on hold for a long time and told me he would call me back in five minutes but never did. When I called the number back the phone just rang and they didn’t answer. When I went back into the office they locked the door.
I left and came back at 8:50am the door was still locked and a lady in the parking lot told me they were closed. I informed her I was just in that office five minutes ago. At the time the lady in the parking lot informed me how they conduct business is horrible and that she didn’t have working lights in her apartment.
I’m filing this complaint due to the way the company conducts business is very wrong. According to conversations that I had with an apartment locator and several other people that this company is taking deposits and promising that they have apartment units when they don’t and not returning the deposits.
I had to schedule time off from work two times when the unit was supposed to be ready on March 25, and from March 30-April 1. I had to stay in a hotel. I lost a lot of money dealing with this complex and leasing agent. I hope someone views my complaint and look into the way this company is conducting business because maybe people are not filing complaints and letting them get away with this.
