Jeff at MBC bought a home from my primary client, Bay to Gulf Holdings, LLC. I was referred to him for demolition, fencing, and rehab work for the house. The loan program that Jeff used on the purchase included rehab funds that would be given to him from the lender after certain aspects of the job had been completed. He promised me that he would pay upon completion of these checkpoints. Jeff accumulated a $10,000 bill and paid exactly $8500 and promised to pay in full on the next checkpoint. An additional $9000 of work was completed, an inspection was done by the lender, funds were released to Jeff, and I never heard from him again.
After dozens of calls and several texts, threatening lawsuit and lien placement on the house, he finally responded saying that there were loose ends on the property and that he would not pay until they were completed. I asked for a list of discrepencies so that we could resolve them and I have not heard from him since. This was a month ago. Action has been taken against him, but I wanted to make as many people aware of his practices as possible. I own a small, independent company so someone skipping out on a $10000 bill really affects the livelihood of everyone on my team. Never, ever, ever do work for Jeff Herrington, owner of MBC Construction and MBC Capital Investments. There are apparently several other people that he has done this to. I wish someone could put a stop to it.
